I don't know if he hates America, but it appears that he isn't too fond of the Constitution. I also know that he hasn't seen a spending increase that he doesn't like.
-------------------- To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.' Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence. Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains. Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

Lets see here... the guy goes over to a war zone, on his own, looking for a job. Can't find a job... gets picked up by the Iraqi police and turned over to the US military. Held for a while... offered a free plane trip back... decides to hang out for a while longer... gets kidnapped and killed by some wacko religious nut.
Yep... Bush and Rumsfeld are to blame... no doubt there.
Don't get me wrong, I am no fan of Bush or Rumsfeld... but to lay the blame for what happened at their feet is stretching... a lot... even for me. The guy with the knife- the one that actually murdered the poor man- is the one that is responsible.

Could be a bit more to it Seuss.. Nick Berg was on freepers enemy list 12.05.2004 23:55 The family firm of beheaded American Nick Berg, was named by a conservative website in a list of 'enemies' of the Iraq occupation. That could explain his arrest by Iraqi police --a detention which fatally delayed his planned return from Iraq and may have led directly to his death. Nick Berg, 26 disappeared into incommunicado detention after his arrest by Iraqi police in March, 2004. He vanished again after his release 13 days later. His body was found last Saturday in Baghdad, and a video of his beheading --supposedly by a radical Islamic group-- was posted on the Internet on Tuesday. The official story of his gruesome murder has many dubious aspects, not least the real reason why Iraqi police detained the young man at a checkpoint. New research by BreakForNews has uncovered a plausible explanation. The FreeRepublic.com web site and forum has a reputation for right-wing views, fanatical Republicanism and relentless pro-war activism. On 7th March, 2004, just three weeks before the first anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, an 'enemies' list of anti-war groups and individuals was posted on the Free Republic forum. It began: "Here you are, FReepers. Here is the enemy." At the time the list was posted, Nick Berg had just come back from an Iraq trip lasting from late December to Feb. 1. He had reported no problems whatsoever with Iraqi police during that visit. Yet, within two weeks of the list being posted, Nick Berg --back in Iraq on his final fatal trip-- was reportedly detained in Mosul at an Iraqi police checkpoint. The official explanation is that authorities thought his identification might have been forged and were checking his authenticity. But a more likely reason is that by then authorities in Iraq had discovered that a 'Berg' of Prometheus Methods Tower Service was in the country, and issued a detention instruction to Iraqi police because they misidentified Nick Berg as an antiwar activist entering Iraq to work for the 'enemy'. That could explain why he was held incommunicado for 13 days, without recourse to a lawyer; why US officialdom was singularly unheeding of his mother's pleas; why the FBI visited his family to question them; why it took a US court order secured by the family to pressure his release. http://www.breakfornews.com/NickBergEnemiesList.htm

His father was against the war to begin with. The responibility falls only on the guys that killed him. Alex's article doesn't carry much weight IMO. I doubt there are alot of Iraqi republicans out to kill the sons of left-wing activists. I don't buy it.

Did you read it? I don't think that's what the article says at all.

The article also suggests that Al Qaeda had nothing to do with the slaying...

I've heard on the TV that Berg's family blame the government for detaining him, which prevented him from leaving Iraq. If that's really their reasoning, it seems a bit stretched - I mean, i could have been picked up at any time; it didn't necessarily have to be after he was arrested and released. That's just the way it happened to go down...
Even more, the whole situation seems a bit wierd - what was this guy doing in Iraq in the first place?
I haven't really done much research on this - I'm waiting for a clearer picture to emerge through the media. The video was horrifying, and nothing can reduce its impact. Still... it is a weird situation, and this guys father isn't helping it by making coo-coo accusations.
