Two weeks no pins :( Cobweb? (PIC)
    #26786870 - 06/27/20 09:46 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Hey guys this is my first grow with grains and im getting a little discouraged. I spawned this exactly two weeks ago today and have yet to see any pins form. At first I thought I jumped the gun on adding polyfil so I switched to double layered micropore tape and Ive been misting when I notice the surface is dryer than normal. Also turn on my ceiling fan on low twice or three times a day. I think this may have cobweb and have had that looming fear for a few days now but I thought Id see what you guys thought. Any help or guidance appreciated:

Looking good! Give it another day or two. The dense white circles are hyphal knots or the beginning of pins.

Also, there's no need to turn on the ceiling fan. The air is always moving even if it doesn't feel like it. Your polyfil is there to restrict that movement a little and slow down the evaporation process/keep RH high.

It's hard for me to see from the picture if it's too wet or not so you'll need to use your own judgement, but IME a properly hydrated substrate in a tub shouldn't need misted very frequently. If it's drying out that fast it has too much air or the sub didn't have the correctly moisture content or some combination of both.

Good luck on your mycological adventure!

It looks fine I’d just keep doing what you’re doing.

Ime the average time to see the first pins is probably 13-15 days. I just had ufo and pf classics take 18 and 20 days to pin.
