Pf tek B+ pins stalling?
    #26785550 - 06/26/20 07:23 PM (3 years, 6 months ago)

In the first 24 hours after birthing my cakes, the first in-vitro pin I saw was growing very fast. It is now almost day 4 and growth seems to have stalled since the end of day 1. My RH is 99% and temp is 80°F. I am using a standard FC and misting and fanning about 3 times a day. Is something wrong or am I being paranoid?

99% RH is too high but i'm guessing your hygrometer isn't accurate anyways
photos would help

can you describe your standard fruiting chamber?

you had an in vitro pin and then after birthing it, the growth stopped?

usually in vitro pins are sign of contamination or birthing too late

The only reason I allowed for in-vitro pins was because the pf tek method on Zamnesia and Fungifun called for it before birthing. Also my hygrometer could definitely be off because I think it's kind of old. My FC is a translucent 70qt Sterilite container. I read that you can layer up wet paper towels at the bottom before birthing the cakes so that's what I used. And to address the concern of contamination, I never noticed any form of discoloration throughout the process of colonization. Thanks in advance for feedback.
