after the account you provided of leaving in discord it really had me look at this place with an even more critical eye and became more able to relate to what drove you off
as was frequently the case, you were right and unfortunately the case is also that the place has increased in toxicity even since then so cannot blame you for hanging back from general participation
look forward to when you next pop back in to the Coven and share some more of your happy tripping vibes with us

Manitoba is in stage 3 of provincial reopening it is now possible to actually go in and visit Nana at her home rather than just being limited to her having a few hours out
medical services are still not fully reopened yet and a number of doctors are pushing for continuation of phone appointments once they do previously doctors could not receive payment under the health care system for phone appointments that has changed during Covid and it has been recognized as so helpful and convenient to be able to do basic checkups and refills on necessary medications without having patients need to come in that patients and doctors alike want the government to keep providing coverage to this service when lockdown is over
but at least until mid July at this point, my appointments with my counsellor are done by phone

July 21st at least
Quote:
The Canada-U.S. border will remain closed to non-essential travel for at least another 30 days to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus as confirmed cases in the United States continue to climb past the two million mark.
The deal was set to expire on Sunday but will now extend until July 21, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced during his daily news conference today.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/border-covid-extension-july-1.5613854
have posted previously about the RCMP being out on watch for US citizens taking unnecessary breaks or getting too close to Canadian citizens when travelling by land to or from Alaska
would not be surprised if Trudeau keeps extending it ironically my...cousins daughter, I dunno what that is in family terms got married to a dude from North Carolina recently and they are not able to travel back down to his home have a new camper and everything, so going to end up just taking it to some provincial parks and doing some camping until the border reopens

I think we should build a wall and politely ask the USA to pay for like half, like my neighbor and I went halfsies on a fence. We can keep the American Corona zombies out and you can protect the motherland from socialist ideas, win/win for both. I half expect American corona refugees to start showing up here

You do you now. Take care of yourself buddy. We’ll all run into each other here or elsewhere at another time. Thank you for everything.

Travelers to the tri-state area from states seeing COVID-19 outbreaks will have to self-quarantine for 14 days, effective at midnight, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday. Cuomo, in conjunction with New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont, cited growing coronavirus cases across the country as the impetus for the move, which he argued will help preserve the reopening efforts for NY, NJ and CT. The threshold for a state requiring its travelers to quarantine will be either a 10% infection rate for COVID-19 testing, or 10 new cases per 100,000 people on a seven day rolling average. States immediately affected under those criteria include Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington, Utah and Texas...

Not sure how they plan to enforce this.

My friend was in Myrtle Beach, SC for a week. Came back yesterday saying NO ONE was wearing masks, people were shaking hands, packed into restaurants. Locals call the location 'gods country' and there are stores completely devoted to trump 2020.
Regardless, he is now back and working in tri state.. Like masks, im assuming the 14 day quarentine is 'optional.'

My friends are right over the border in PA, they have had no issue going back and forth into nj to visit and work. That was a pipe dream, stopping people. Just like this 14 day quarantine.

Yeah I'm close to the border in PA myself normally, and I thought I'd hear more about it if it was wider spread. I haven't been to either NY or NJ since February so I wasn't sure.
The area I'm kind of hunkered down in now is closer to the NY border has a lot of NYers that come and visit and for a while they were encouraging people from both NY and NJ to self-quarantine, but no one actually attempted to enforce it. Cases only continued to go down all over the NE, so

My brother and sil and kids were supposed to be down there. My nephew ended up in the hospital. My parents were going to take their rental and just cook and spend their time outside and try and do it safely - and return the deposit to my brother, and then my dad ended up in the hospital the next day.

the universe wants everyone to stay the fuck out of south carolina apparently.

Yeah, I might poke my head out in the fall for weddings. One is just outside of NYC, and one is presumably(?) in the Charlotte metro(and another one is completely out of country in 2021 but luckily that one is still early enough in planning that it hasn't fucked things up too bad).
..idk. I'm closer to the NC folks, and I would like to see that side of my family, but yeah..I just dunno lol - I'm more worried about NC than NY. I am definitely renting a car and driving down and avoiding flights until 2021 probably.
Honestly assuming nothing will change with my ability to telecommute, once my lease is up in the fall I'm moving into a house with a bunch of friends in the boonies and hunkering down for a bit..just seems like a better situation vs living in a cramped downtown area in the age of a pandemic. Now is a good time for fresh air, space...and proximity to the appalachian trail

Hope your fam is okay, pb. Havent caught a post in awhile in regards to your gram, but have a similar situation occurring. My 2nd cousins mother developed Alzheimer's, wandered out of the house in middle of the night, and had to be put in an assisted living facility juuust before this all crashed down. 1/3rd of the place tested positive before her ma caught it. Had to be placed in quarantine with NO human interaction, which as you know is the worst thing imaginable, for a patient, not to mention one with Alzheimer's to not see familiar faces/setting.
One thing my family is doing, perhaps what youve had to do, is flood her mom with cards, pictures.
But the situation sucks. Politics aside. Because that seems to be the focus, this country is clearly divided, and there is an absence of leadership. It'll be our downfall, pride ego and polling numbers.

Grandma made a full recovery in 14 weeks(edit: days...14 days ) on the dot! Aside from the first day she was mostly asymptomatic and had an easy time. They're (the facility) still in the thick of it, and I can't even see her outside, but I've been calling. It's hard with dementia, I'm sure she has no idea who is calling her or where all her visitors have gone .
Sorry to hear about your great aunt..how'd she do with it? And yeah, it's rough...can you even imagine the person who's job it is to try and make dementia patients compliant with mask wearing? Might be even more futile than trying to do that with children.

She turned 90 the next week after that
Kidney failure, heart failure, copd...severe enough dementia to have no idea the gravity of what she just went through. In her cluster, 1 out of every 2 people passed on.

Do the elders need to wear mask in nursing homes in us? In here it is only us nurses(OK I'm just in training to come one) that have to wear them. Elders are isolated in theyr rooms. And IMHO making elders to wear masks 24/7 during summer is not protecting theyr health.
