Looking to switch it up

Hey guys, this is kinda going to be a rant with how I do things (which I know I could improve on) and help on where I wanna go. I'm sure alot of newbies have been in this position, and I'm excited to see the debate
So I got into growing mush a handful of years ago and found my basic tek that works. I don't do anything fancy, I follow RR rye berry tek, use a MS to inoculate 10 jars, do my g2g, fruit with dam5050 coir tek, and rebuy more ms syringes
I wanna experiment with LC. I was watching youtube and saw someone with a jar of LC and I drool at the thought of having a quart jar of mycelium ready to go. And I still wanna try spawn bags, but are they better than jars?
What are your teks and methods? Is there anything else cool I should be looking into?

Bod's Tek list has been my holy grail for up-to-date info!
Everything you need in one spot!
Mush Cult has an ocean of awesome info, but pay attention to how old it is because best practices are ever evolving.
Good Luck and welcome back!

Not an expert by any means (my pet monkey has only done a few PF/BRF grows with spore syringes), but it seems that the majority of people here suggest skipping an LC and going right to agar.

Yeah just go agar dude. It's easy and works. LC is some advanced stuff that I haven't even thought of. I am of the lazy type, work smarter not harder. I haven't even modded any jar lids, just keep them a little loose and that works great so why change it?

Hey there,
I'm pretty sure very few people do MS to grain these days. Too many contam possibilities.
If you really want to change it up, and definitely if you want to make LC's, get into Agar. . .
That way a MS syringe will last you months (if you don't use agar to keep your culture moving, and you can remove contamination from the equation. . .
Look up agar from Bodhisatta, pastywhyte, any of the TC's. . . Also look up the 'Josex poke' if you are considering LC as a good starting point. . . Mushboy has a great LC tek using media bottles that are super easy as they are unmodified and really easy to use. . .

+1 for agar as the best next step after MS to grain/G2G to monotub.
Presumably, you are already using a SAB and familiar with sanitary/aseptic procedure, so agar work is a natural progression from there. It also gives fast and accurate feedback if there are gaps in your process or equipment.
I'd recommend starting with pouring your own plates from media bottles to disposable petri dishes, rather than starting with no-pours. Media bottles are a worthwhile long-term purchase for agar or LC, and starting with pouring your own disposable petris is both fun (until it gets old) and a way to test that your SAB and prep/technique is actually aseptic.

Agar is definitely the foundation for more serious growing. What I've been doing is getting a clean culture on agar and then making a blenderless LI https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/22833314 to nocc my grain jars and they're colonizing in 10-13 days. Make a shoe box like this https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26009662 and have pins in 10-13 days.
I've done agar wedges to grain, LC, LI. I like the LI the best so far but going agar to grain and then g2g can also get you a lot of grain spawn quickly once you get going.

Thx guys. Its definitely interesting to see what the new teks are and which ones survived over the years.
To be honest it seems the Tried and true remain the main go to.. and it's cool seeing some of the old trusted cultivators tagged in this post. They've actually commented on my stuff back when I started 🤘🤘
