Uncolonized Rye Berries on top of jar

So I did a grain-to-grain transfer a while back and most of the jars are finishing but one or two of them have a lot of grains at the top that just aren't colonizing. I assume it is due to dryness.
Is there anything I can do to save these jars? If I spawn to bulk with uncolonized grain it will contaminate for sure.
I was thinking of shaking it up - about all I can do without opening it up and introducing a potential contaminant vector.
Thank you.

Could happen, if they`re too dry. You may turn them upside down, get the uncolonized grains out, shake up and spawn

Pics please You can turn the jars upside down and the excess rye will gather around the lid allowing you to extract them before spawning your myc into a tub. However I'd love to see a pic to give a more accurate assessment.

I'd spawn them, doesn't look like a contam and yes looks like they're a bit dry. The grain are covered by myc, you just can't see the hyphae. Once spawned it will re-hydrate and be just fine.

I get ya, I also live around the same parts, and the desert isn't the greatest thing to deal with. Unmodified tubs have been my savior more time than I can count. the retain water so well that usually I don't need to mist or add water content until the first flush is done.

Yeah, now as i see the pictures, i`d also spawn. You bulk with coco? A little top layer over the exposed grains and you`re fine. With field capacity, you could give the top layer a good mist due to your conditions
