Wiping has nothing to do with the lethality of iso on cells.

Check out this video of different solvents applied to bacteria, no wiping involved.

It seems like wiping is to physically remove the microscopic stuff along with killing some of it.

Like if I were getting a shot I’d much rather wipe all the skin cells and dirt off the injection spot rather than just spray my arm and have it all get pushed in with the needle even if it was dead.

With casing I don’t think I’ve ever cased late enough that it didn’t get grown into. All my PE I used a top layer at spawn and then a 5050 casing later on which also got colonized.

If you're wiping sterile bags/jars you're actually introducing contamination rather than removing it.

That’s the way I see it. Wiping a surface clears off whatever the iso killed, but also clears off the iso. So now you’ve got a clean surface with no protection.

Spraying a surface kills everything, and now your surface is protected from anything new landing on it.

Flow hood is a bit different scenario I suppose, but for a SAB I would much prefer to spray and leave it.

I'm kinda with AKA on this. They don't squirt you with Alcohol when you get a shot. They wipe the arm hard and fast.

Mechanical removal is part of its effectiveness

read here b ut there are many other studies available

Isopropyl alcohol contact does not kill Bacillus cereus spores.
Of the products evaluated in this project, the Site-Scrub* IPA Device was statistically significantly more effective at reducing spore contamination than the other disinfecting products tested.
In order of the most to least effective spore decontamination the ranking was Site-Scrub* IPA Device, IPA pad and Curos* Port Protector.
Thus, products with more scrubbing action, particularly the Site-Scrub* IPA Device, were more effective for removing bacterial spores.
The effectiveness of the products for the disinfection of spore contaminated needle-free connectors appears to be the result of the scrubbing action by the device itself.

Watch RR videos and see if he wipes. It has been so long I don't really remember. I think he does though.

It really doesn't matter if you spraying or wiping. We are just debating semantics. Iso doesn't sterilize it sanitizes so I can see George Carlin's point.

RR also said to launder your clothes, wear scrubs, put on a hair net and brush your teeth, all of which is unnecessary.

Wiping bags or jars that have sat on a shelf in the open environment is one thing but it is an entirely different thing when talking about bags or jars that have been removed from the PC, a sterile surface is sterile until you put a peice of paper towel or any other thing on it. It is about as necessary as putting disposable booties on while doing g2g.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s a comparison study on the efficacy of three products which use iso as their cleaning agent vs a surface treated with a bacteria iso doesn’t kill.

The iso in that study is virtually inconsequential. Since it doesn’t kill the bacteria they’re testing against, it’s only acting as a lubricant for the scrubbing.

Can you link a different study that compares either no mechanical vs mechanical applications or different levels of mechanical application vs a bacteria iso kills? I’m really interested in this now!

( I don't k ow who that is but he looks like Carlin's cousin.)

Again I can see the point of wiping sterilized bags as being the same as flaming a needle and wiping it with iso after sterilization. My point was more wiping vs spraying, I would wipe.

Probably better not to do either.
