Casing w/o FC - Need advice (pics)

Hi,
I'm trying to do go like this, and I would like some advices..

I broke a PF TEK cake and made this "casing" with vermiculite. I know verm only is not good. The myc colonized the layer, and then there are some pins growing.
(They are wet cause I mist)
I would like to know how to improve this. They are receiving lots of FAE and I'm misting till glistening. Would be better keep them closed with lids overnight, or something like that? The pins are growing slowly, is it normal? Or just let it like i'm doing?
Thanks any reply.

looks great... "glisten" is the right word. after misting, I keep the lid off for a few hours... in fact I hardly ever mist, even just after spawning... but I use manure and manure is already wet so that is my reason. I have misted before and shut and latched the lid, then a day after gotten myco piss from bacteria contamination.

Are you just fruiting in open air? Try misting the inside of a plastic bag and put it over the top of the container.

Hi,
Thanks to reply.
Just to clarify, its something like this? (Yes, i'm fruiting in open air)

Could this improve my fruiting stage?
Thank you all.
Edit: Why not just put a lid on it?

if there's holes in the lid and the lid is tall enough to provide room for shrooms, then go for it

Did you break up the BRF cake and mix it with anything else? If you’re not using the cakes as spawn it’s better not to break them up. If you do then the mycelium spends time and energy recovering from something that didn’t add any benefit to the whole deal.
That cup looks alright though I was FYI. If you have just a single cake and don’t want a FC you can just take the lid off and put a bag right over top and fruit in the original jar.
And to the “myco piss”....comment. Misting did not cause bacterial contamination in a day, nor does it ever. Too much misting could exacerbate problems that already exist though. Just for anyone reading later on.

it caused contamination because bacteria likes it when there's too much moisture... you're thinking of mold and other fungi

Then it didn’t need to be misted and almost certainly already had issues. I didn’t bring it up to mess with you but new people sometimes read through just a couple threads and see a single post that leads to an incorrect understanding and you see that later on when they’re posting about some problems they have.

Is any yellowish spot a sign of bacterial problems? Why the bag works better than let them open, since i'm misting constantly?

That's exactly what I said... that it didn't need to be misted and I overdid it.

well the bag should have some air holes in it, and personally I don't like doing those little container grows because I like to have a lid to take on and off... gives me more control over moisture. And that yellowish shit could also appear for mold i think, but mold usually means it was in the spawn to begin with. As I said, bacteria can be introduced after mixing and fruiting conditions.

What about make holes in this container, like a monotub? Instead of a bag?

I have the lid. Like, make two holes upper the substrate, something like this. Holes in lid too... It could have same results..?

if this is cake to bulk, not just a cake, put holes in the lid not the container. Warm air rises and mushrooms put off some heat.
If you will not be around to constantly check on moisture, then maybe put holes in the side, but I don't think you need them either way.
