I'm with you! I made the exact same purchase with the intent of dipping my toes in the lake of mycology. Needless to say the kit has been a fucking pain and not nearly as easy or straight-forward as advertised.. in hindsight I should have just written a large list of supplies to buy, bought everything I needed for agar, and went right in.
I have primordia and pinning right now but after reading the posts here for the last 12 hours I decided to buy a thermometer/hygrometer combo as well as some basic supplies that I knew i'd need later. When I got home I checked the temp/rh% of my kit.. the temp was at 30c/86f while the rh was at fucking FIFTY! Of course with the temp too high and the rh too low I made some quick adjustments and now its at 23c/73f and 85% which is much better but still not optimal. I hope it hits the proper numbers soon and I also hope I didn't do any damage to the poor mush. I also quickly cut some holes on either side and filled em with polyfil so the fucking things could breathe.
but seriously though why the hell are the instructions so ambiguous? Why did they leave out crucial information? Are these sites only running and turning a profit because of people like us and/or lazy people? Its fucking highway robbery man

It's just classic bidness. Mush cult is something that seems so foreign to every day life and there's a whole vocabulary of terms people don't understand and they think of these crazy fungi growing secretly in the dark etc etc.
If you know nothing about it at all it can seem super overwhelming so someone comes along and says 'everything you need, right here in one spot. Just add water (or spores whatever)' and they can throw a huge price tag on it because new growers just have no idea.
I'm sure some companies are trying to offer the best product they can while still remaining a viable business but even then they just may not know that there's a better way to do it.

Might be easier to cook the books when they say they sold X kits at 200$ instead of 20$ just a thought... all of the ratings sound fake af

FunnyBeaver said: Yes, I fucked up on the purchase. It seemed like a quick way to avoid the PKtek method I tried once and.. this method is harder.. moving to the other method this week, have both of them running at the same time.
If you're interested in continuing it as a hobby I'd up the ante and also drop some spores onto agar. Then you can begin to learn how to eventually make your own spawn bags. Yeah, you can inject spore solution into a bag but that's not the way to achieve consistency.

Quick question.. I have a big shroom that is falling down in the kit on to the soil. Its on the soil now. Anything I can do about it? Its obviously the biggest one there. Was hoping to get a print out of it.

It’s fine they grow weird sometimes.
Yours need more air though, they’re growing long and skinny trying to get out.
