These motherfuckers literally forgot Iowa was a state. Which I don't blame them for but when you're doing commercial insurance for the country and using that to select coverage it's kinda a big deal.
How did they miss that you ask? I mean surely they would realize they only have 49 states, right?
Well, friends, they put DC as the 50th state.

Yeah. Most of our newer systems treat DC as if it's a state. At this point DC has the same agencies and legal structures and incentives as any state. Albeit a very small one.
This particular system is modelled after ancient insurance systems when DC was more unique in functionality. In this system it's categorized with Puerto Rico and Guam as something that is kinda american but kinda its own thing.
I used to work on a team that fixed location data and it drove me nuts when an underwriter tried to force in PR as a state. But never had that problem with DC. Again it functions nearly the same as a state in the 21st century.
So by all means I do think it should just go ahead and be a state.

A mexicanuck, 50/50, so I'm only 50 percent offended at you
For some reason a lot of websites consider Mexico to be south or central america, but it's north america. I was told on reddit it's what they're taught in school. The year I studied in Canada I remember seeing the same stuff over again and everyone thought I was smart because I already knew the material, maybe it's something like that?

Yeah man, my mom did NOT enjoy her time in there, but mostly because she didn't go voluntarily. Says the staff would fuck with her by clearing their throats or touching their noses, but she'd say we would do the same thing. Mental illness sucks my dude.

I prepared char instead of wings

I burned my hand which caused me to forget about my rice and it overcooked. So I ended up slicing g some thinly and dipping in a mirin/pickled ginger mix. 100x better than salmon.

If it makes you feel better I love Canadians They're like my favorite.
...dunno how to feel about Mexicans though. Most of the dudes are way too open about checking out my ass.
Also yeah definitely learned that Mexico is part of North America in school. I always imagined central America to extend from Guatemala to Panama but I don't really know. I was taught that was all North America in school.
I want to comment about the looney bin thing since I've had a few trips myself but would rather not right now. It either helps or it doesn't.
Most of the real help comes after but it can be nice to get a reset. Main reason they keep you is to get you hooked up with some meds that make you marginally less... volatile.
It takes time to undo the things time has done. Hope your friend will find the help he needs Gypsy.

Papa pb's coming to the end of his tuberculosis treatment in a couple weeks to our knowledge(I think they have to retake xrays to make sure it's gone). He's not a big drinker, but he enjoys a nice whiskey or scotch from time to time(Jameson and tullamore dew seem to be the go to, and a good starting point in terms of what he likes.) and I would like to get him a bottle of something(under like...75...preferably but I'll spring for a little more if it's reaaaally worth it) to mark the occasion as he hasn't been able to drink due to medication.
Shouting out into the ether for suggestions

I was just kidding around, not actually offended cookie, not to worry
School's weird, probably some either indoctrination or "winner tells the tale" type of stuff going on in there. We were taught that Santa Anna was ambushed and forced to sign over a huge part of Mexico to the US but I think the US teaches it as some big battle. I'm fuzzy on the details, never was good at history.
Yeah, Mexicans are a little more obvious about that. It really pisses me off that catcalling is still so common and brazen here, or that guy talk is so gross. It varies between groups though, as does everything. Something that I don't get about Canada, I'm not sure if it happens in the US, is that personal space is so big! The year I studied there I got told I was making some of the other kids uncomfortable because I was getting too close to the kids or being a little more physical with my body language.
Glad papa PB is doing well! I don't know much about whiskey, but if he's into rum, Aconte is a great brand that isn't too expensive, the 7 year stuff is something else! My dad likes ballantines whiskey and I think it's pretty good, but again, not much of a drinker.
