I swore that I would never learn coding again since high school because I hated it.

Oh you put a / in the wrong page? Well the whole website is trash now. Have fun sifting through hundreds of lines to find that single slash.

Just thinking about those very old memories makes me want to pull my hair out.

But I taught myself some basic Excel macros (and tried Outlook, both using Visual ofc, but I think macro addons are blocked in my company email) So I already broke that promise.

Well trying to leave my job before I got fired has me interested in data integrity and analysis. Already did some with zero resources for work. Did some with even less resources at an internship of sorts.

I like working with and puzzling out interesting data and using that to make things better. It's very nice.

But anyway it seems if I want to shoot for that and get paid more than a can of worms I need to learn some new programming. Python seems popular and not the most difficult to learn.

So I finally have a rough plan for what to do with my dumb life. If I don't find something by March I'll get some online courses and learn python and get my arcgis certificate. Between that and all my other certs and experience I shouldn't be in too bad of a position without finishing my degree.

Though I am considering finishing a degree too. I'm really not too far from an associate's. I just don't like classroom learning online. Stuff that needs to be on a computer is different. Math and science? Nah bro I'd rather use a stone tablet and chisel.

Also hi emc/lnc crowd.

I've heard as much.

I learned html 4 and 5 and started on java but I was so burned out by then.

I don't think I'll ever have fun coding. But using a more intuitive language as a part of my job to create things to foster understanding... That actually sounds kinda nice.

Btw how's your taxonomy project going?

I got it to a point where it was doing what I wanted it to, but I have not been doing any programming in the last few months.

Java I don't find fun at all to write. Though an IDE takes some of the tedium out of it.

Hi EMC.

Had a weird day at work. I left my first job because I had to do some dangerous roof work of lifting heavy conduit and lugging it around on a slippery roof and I just wasn't feeling like taking that risk today so I put it off until tomorrow. Also had another job to go to.

My 2nd job was fixing someones bathroom and hall. When I got there the guy answered the door with a worried look on his face and then he started apologizing to me and telling me that he was having a heart attack. I told him to call 911 and then I just waited and watched him until the fire truck came to get him. That was scary because I thought I might have to give him CPR and didn't want to get the Covid. Also his daughter was there and that would be super awkward if he died on-site and then I had to like comfort his daughter or help her find a guardian to watch her.

I'm not sure what happened because I left when the firemen came and then went to get tacos!

Hey folks :sun:. Just wanted to stop in and say hi - had to give most forms of social media a bit of a break for mental health reasons, but I'll probably be around a bit more often. Hope everyone is hanging in there alright .
