Identifying a common fungi

I say common because I feel like ive seen these thousands of times just throughout my usual trail walks.
These were growing in the trails, definitely fungi, at the bottom of a tree, halfway out of the tree and halfway out of the ground, dont even look like mushrooms haha but they look pretty cool, my conclusion is they are not poisonous, they are edible, and not psychoactive at all, but I couldnt find the species at all with a million google searches so was hoping someone here can tell me, Ive been trying to get into mushroom identifying for a while but its hard where I live as theres not much mushrooms around at all throughout the year, so this is my first fungi picking and identifying ever and figured might as well see what type of species it is and if its anything interesting
it has no gills, instead its just a powdery white solid underneath, and the top is orange, and they are oyster shaped which I know oyster mushrooms are a common nickname for most species so thats what I am thinking this falls under.

Sort of hard but still easily squishable if handled roughly, smells like fungi for sure, in fact the smell reminds me of the shrooms I buy from friends, and I live in New York which is why I said in the OP that it is hard to mushroom hunt here, but then again I did do research and am educated on the fact that spores travel through the air and can pretty much plant themselves anywhere, and even if no natural spores has made it to a certain area, all it takes is someone possessing homegrown/purchased mushrooms for example, then next thing they know the spores from their homegrown/purchased mushrooms are causing mushrooms to grow in their own yard because of the way spores work, I already learned one of the rules of mushroom hunting which is "When you pick it, flick it" so that you knock some spores off and they can continue growing in that area, so yeah I am not giving up mushroom hunting just because of the lame area I live in, I know I will find a miracle spot soon, but anyways the comment after yours made a good conclusion, I am pretty sure thats what this is after comparing some images on google. Its just regular fungi, not even a mushroom. But was just kind of hoping I picked something interesting on my first, but lame, hunt, mainly the only reason I posted this ID was because of the powdery and fuzzy white bottom, I know that a lot of psychoactive mushrooms have powdery and fuzzy white stems similar to the bottom of this fungi, so there was about 1% of me hoping I did pick something magical coincidentally. Anyways, this thread is done and over with already, I plan on going into different areas, and this time picking actual mushrooms rather than random fungi that give off a mushroom vibe, hopefully can post more ID requests by tonight and see what the pros like yall have to say about em.
