Pressure cooker spirting out steam from one spot
    #26777344 - 06/23/20 05:13 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

So Ive pressure cooked a lot of times, recently found out that my rocker rocks way too much but thats another story. So, I recently cleaned my whole unit and took the rubber gasket or whatever out while doing so. I put it back on, it didnt look like it needed to be put in any special way. It started spirting out steam after so much time, I waited a bit to see if it would seal back up but it didnt. This happened when I first started, I dont remember what I did to fix it. The gasket is in good condition still. What should I do?

You can try wiping the gasket off with a damp washcloth on both sides and maybe flipping it over could help.

I lube mine every few runs with a bit of olive oil to avoid wear from twisting.

Make sure the gasket didn't get stretched, I have a couple on hand just in case, haven't had to use any yet but when the time comes I'm ready lol.

I second this. When using Prestos, it takes about a year or less of heavy use for parts to fail. I suggest stocking up on spares gauges, seals, ect when you can. Its better to have that stuff on hand then be fucked when it happens, because it WILL happen.

Ill have to look at gauges cuz I only have one presto with a gauge, the other presto is older 9 jars and a rocker no gauge. Iv used the older presto for yrs 5+ and still have the original gasket nothing wrong with it, and I plan on a few more years.

Also make sure to keep the check valve tight or use thread locker. Nearly had a major issue with that one night. Had about 3/4 of a turn left before blowing off at 17 psi.

I use high-vacuum grease (industrial shit) on the edges every few runs.

I don't have a Presto but wouldn't the rocker moving too much perhaps mean that the heat is a little too high? If you're using an electric stove then it's even harder to moderate the heat settings than it is with a gas cooker.
