Man, u cant be serious. Stop trying to defend this this verbally, and wait for the pressure cooker in silence. Then use the pressure cooker.
Refusing the PC is one of the most scrub things in this hobby, woefully ignorant, provocative to the established, and inferior as method both in power and flexibility. Dont even reply. Just call the responsible parties, and ask: "When is my pressure cooker coming?"

How many jars fit in your rice cooker vs the pressure cooker? Look at no soak teks if that's your problem with seeds. You will have sterilized seeds in alot less than 6 hours. But hey I'm glad you are having success so far even if its unconventional

@smalltalk_canceled Yeah, uh ok, I'm not defending anything. Don't get bent out of shape. I'm simply sharing my current grow. It could all go horribly wrong, then everyone can celebrate, but so far it has been successful.
@TheGreatGig No jars go into the rice cooker. I simply cook my WBS in the rice cooker to get them hydrated before sterilization and inoculation. My HUGE canning pot can hold 11-14 jars (more or less depending on the jar size). I can leave the jars steaming for 6+ hours without adding water. I'll have to check out some no soak teks. Thank you, yeah, I should have made the thread name: Unconventional Grow Log (Trigger Warning!) hahaha!
@fightingcherries Yes, I have had that problem in the past. Any input on that issue?

Update:
The 11 G2G transfer jars are just about fully colonized without a single contamination. In about a week, to allow the mycelium to consolidate, I will prepare coconut coir for some shoeboxes. Everything is moving right along perfectly.
To clarify: I didn't shake these G2G jars and kept the transferred mycelium on top of the steam sterilized grain and let it colonize downward.

Phase 5: SHOEBOX TIME
Come along with me and the butterflies and bees, we will make some shoeboxes and grow some mushies.
Anyway, I more-or-less followed SFF Coir Tek to prepare my bulk substrate, then squeezed the living hell out of the coir to get it to "just under field capacity," mixed some colonized WBS with some coir, then added the "pseudo-casing" of coir on top of the mixed mess. Once that was completed I sprayed about 60 sprays of distilled water on the coir to create the luxurious top of the box steam room just as it is discussed here: SFF Shoebox Assembly TEK. Anyway, so far this entire process has been successful, but there are things that I will change on my next grow. Finally, no matter what the results I will post the outcome.

Side note: I saved one large jar of WBS and one smaller jar to continue the process starting with some G2G transfers just incase everything goes south.

Good luck man! Hope it works out. I just harvested ~80 wet grams from a grain shoebox.. the potential is there!
I've been using spitballs cvg tek. Just follow the recipe and no worries about field capacity. 3qts of spawn works out to 200 grams coir, 2.5 cups verm, 73 grams gypsum, and 1300 ml water... I've had nice results with 1000 ml water and 300 ml coffee as well.
Just mix in a bucket with a lid and let it sit for a few hours before making the box. 3 quarts is about 1 shoebox for me.

Those are pretty crazy ratios, that’s like 10 quarts of spawn to a brick of coir.

I will be posting the final yield and maybe one more set of pictures of when the caps open a bit more before I take spore prints and start making syringes.

Definitely curious about your yield per shoebox. Your boxes look nice!
I made a shoebox on august 15th using the same tek. I may have over-misted but it came out to about 300grams wet for the 1st flush. 2nd flush was a lot less though @160g wet.
I also just spawned another one and did 60 sprays as you did (a lot less than my first box). I'll update how it compares.
Shoeboxes are great

That's the funniest thing about mycology. Some people's precision and others clunkiness both produce mushrooms lol.

I’ve never argued this...I only suggest that the precise methods produce more mushrooms than the hamfisted ones. Anyone can grow a few weeds, it’s the canopies that separate good methods from poor.
