must i distill woodworm to get true absinthe?
    #2677600 - 05/14/04 01:19 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

I just received a pound of woodworm to make a few bottles of absinthe and it says it must be distilled to extract thujone. Is this true that i must distill the absinthe extract to release the thujone? Ive read that good results have been accieved from just soaking in high proof alcohol.

I beter hope it does, i just had a one shot glass with 4 shots water and 4 teaspoons sugar and thats some vial stuff! for the last 2 shots i had to chase with sugar water because its so disgusting even watered down and sugared up!

Im going to build my still using these instructions and make the absinthe then later make some rum . http://www.easttnstills.com/Amazingstill-Instructions.pdf
I already bought 3 packets of 48hour turbo yeast, some flavoring for my first batch, all the sugar and brown sugar i need to make my first 2 batches. My first batch will be just sugar and just add the rum, vodka flavor. Then the second and third batch will be 50/50 sugar/brownsugar and a bottle of molassos to make some pure rum! I also got a whiskey packet too but that will be later down the road.

This absinthe is good, can't wait to get some slightly more palatble product and have a few more!
