Just how important is it?
-------------------- Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not. --Jac O'keeffe

Id say its pretty damn important. I try to show graditude whenever possible, even in video games.
When someone excepts graditude and you dont show it to them, it can be quite awkward.

I need
And I braught enough for all my friends
-------------------- Only hope can give rise to the emotion we call despair. But it is nearly impossible for a man to try to live without hope, so I guess that leaves Man no choice but to walk around with despair as his companion.

Gratitude is the attitude. Watch abundance make its way into every facet of your life, simply by enjoying the present moment for what it is. Circumstances are irrelevant, and can be springboarded via a "perception correction", of sorts.

It is important to anyone wanting to be a spiritually balanced, karma correct human being. Unfortunately, it is extremely out of style this day and age.

Its antithesis - entitlement - is all the rage these days??
How the fuck did it come to be this way?!?

Perhaps a privilaged upbringing is to blame. It seems like people who come from poor, unplesant, poverty-stricken backgrounds have the most graditude, in my experience.
Also the divorce rate is like 50%. Perhaps that adds to the lack of gratitude.

Gratitude is essential to the good & noble life. Without gratitude everything feels fundamentally wrong & nothing feels right.

Definitely had a day filled with Gratitude today!
So today I went to the Lake for another jet ski adventure. It was going well until the same fuckin issue came up again and my coolant system was pumping water into my jetski engine bay. So i cut the engine, jump in the water and start bailing out water. Luckily, it was 8pm and there was plenty of light. I was near a bridge with a couple boats parked. I continued to bail out water for about 20-25 minutes and a boat pulls and a guy asks "Hey, do you need help?". Im like "Yeah, i do. My jet ski has water in it." And hes like "if you want, I will tow you back into the dock". I was like "Yes! Thank you. That would be great". So his wife grabs a rope and throws it to me.
I should also mention that this guy and gal were very big, like 300-400lbs each. Sometimes the biggest people have the biggest hearts, right Asante?
Anyway, so the wife throws me a rope, and I use one of my rope carabiners to lock his rope. He says "Jump into the boat". So I did, plenty of room in there, no sign of going too low in the water from the weight of everyone (the guy, the wife and two small kids in the front). So this guy drives down the river to where the dock was. I was looking back at my jet ski to make sure it wasnt sinking. It did kinda nose-dipping, and the guy noticed and slowed down. I felt really guilty for using his time but he was more than welcome to help me and I was definitely thankful for this help.
On the way there, I ask where hes from and he said hes from the same town I live in. That was cool. I also explained more about my issue and he said it was "the freeze plug and you can rent a tool to put a new in there". No more Mickey Mouse shit for me! Im renting that tool and getting those freeze plugs ASAP!
So we get back to the dock and he says "Go get your trailer and we will put it on the trailer". I was like "OK sure". I felt bad for using his time but ran over to my car with no slippers, got my car/trailer and backed it up all the while he was holding the rope tied to my jet ski like a leash. I felt like "wow, this guy is really generous". He helps me to get my jet ski on the trailer and I lock it down. I said thanks to him about 8-10 times while at the dock. I thanked him again as he walked down the dock to his boat that was parked at the back near the river. He left and I was so grateful to have his assistance.
I pulled my car/trailer/jetski out of the water and pulled the plug to drain the water out of the ski. So much water, so embarrassing. And as I watched the water pour out of the engine bay, I pondered the generosity of that big fella and his big wife......
Sometimes the biggest people have the biggest hearts
In case you're wondering, this the part that I need that popped out during this Spring.

As important as gratitude is, I think it’s more important people remember what they are owed and what has been taken away.
