So i’m new to mycology and wanted to know how to start with cultivation, i.e like how did you start, your first monotub and the success of it? I live in Australia (Newcastle, NSW) and was wondering what is a safe way to obtain a spore print in a trust worthy way, for microscopy of course. i’m interested in all subspecies not just actives, lets discuss shit ! im not a complete noob i guess ive been picking and all that jazz, just wanna research a new side to mushrooms and im willing to learn if you wanna share cheers !

Dude, you gotta just start reading. Pf tek is definitely where most people start. Walk your way through that physically or just mentally and plenty of questions/concerns will come up for you to search for on this site.

Oh but for prints/syringes, there are a fair amount of websites people use. I use lilshopofspores. Reddit also has a big community of independent people shipping them out. There are probably even users here that send out spores if you DM them. I'm not sure about the legality of shipping to Aus. I'm sure you'll also find some info on that if you search

Most people won't start with a monotub. They'll fruit cakes inside a SGFC. There is definitely an optimal size for SGFC (around 60-70qt i think?), but you can use something much smaller if you want. It'll still work
For a monotub, I think the size is less important as far as efficacy goes. But it will directly correlate to the size of your flushes.
