ID Request - Southeastern US

Southeastern US, found scattered on forest floor, growing from soil, under hardwood trees. Was looking for Chantrelles but am a noob on ID'ing them.

Those are cantharellus. Those are past their prime though. I personally only pick the large pins just before they fan out, less bugs like that.

awesome! I didn't know because they are more of an orange color than the yellow I see in books. Are all cantharellus species edible?

Although past their prime, they are still really good tasting like that. Just make sure you get any bugs out that may be hiding

Cantharellus, they are delicious, but be sure to thoroughly cook all mushrooms or you can have some gastric distress 🤮💩
