How long will an unsealed spawn bag last? Let's find out! 4

How long will an unsealed spawn bag last on the shelf? The short answer is a long fuckin time!
Once every 6 months or so I do a control run where I make a jar, bag, or stack of 5 petris and I leave them be to make sure filters and hood are working as they should (rhyme master ).
My last control run was in february and after a month everything was fine, petris and jars got used, but I wanted to see how long a non impulse sealed bag would last sitting on my workstation.
Here are a couple pics of the bag in its natural habitat

The bag has 0 signs of visible contamination. The opening is held shut not by an impulse seal as indicated in the pic below, but instead it is held closed by a vacuum created upon cool down of the pc.
(note there is no impulse seal line)

So, unsealed bags can last quite a while on the shelf, but will it grow a tub? Let's find out! I will be inoculating this bag in a couple hours and will be updating this thread with its progress!

This bag has been colonized for a few days now, just forgot to update.

It looks identical to my other bags, no signs of contam. Gonna spawn it in a few days, as soon as my current cycle is done!

So the "Control" bag has mycelium in it?
Hella confused but interesting experiment

Haha no. Every 6 months I make a bag, jar, and some plates and just leave them to make sure my hood and filters are working. They get labelled "control"
The petris get opened in front of the hood for a few minutes and resealed, jars and bags usually just sit on my desk but sometimes I'll open the jar in front of the hood, flame my scalpel, and drop a blank agar wedge in and see what happens.
I decided to let the spawn bag sit for a few months to see if an unsealed spawn bag will contam on its own. It didn't, at least not that I could tell, so I decided to see how well it will grow a tub so I knocked it up with a half jar of spawn and now I'm gonna spawn it in a couple days. If the tub doesn't contam then I know it didn't get compromised during the 3 months it sat on a shelf.

Hello, Im registered here for a while but this is my first post. In my last pressure cooking session, there I filled a bag with rye. This bag I only wrapped by its own, but I cant see any contamns. But I think the contams are waiting where the bag is slightly open. How can I handle it correctly? Is there the possibility that I can wash a glass with hot water and fill it with the bag and throw a piece from agar in it in my SAB? Im too lazy, I have some spontanous fructifications in my dishes, but today I did nothing - again. Well, but my first rye glass with casing is producing flesh right now, hopefully I will learn how to run with mycelium.

Did you rehydrate the grains somehow before inoculating?

Last update for this thread probably unless i let this tub go for a 2nd flush.
Here she is today:

So, in conclusion, if you properly sterilize and your spawn is clean, you can let bags sit shelved for quite a while!
The bag that made this tub, to refresh everyones memory, was made in February, knocked up in may and fruited in june. That's 4 months! Hope you all enjoyed following along!

Thanks man! Glad to see you around and posting!
Definitely probably not the best idea to let a bag sit for months unsealed if you arent confident in your grow skills, but definitely no reason to trip if you can't get to knockin up your bags the day after you make them.
On average my bags sit for a few days no matter what cause i make all my bags then knock them up all at once. Usually takes me 4 cycles to cook all the bags I need and I spread that out over a few days.
