Perfect ryegrass spawn every time. Stupid easy and totally foolproof

I've been back and forth about posting this since there's already so many RGS threads but I, personally, haven't seen anyone prep their RGS quite like how I do- which ends up the perfect moisture content and breaks up quite easily unlike other methods I've come across

I see rye grass seed (my spawn of choice) rarely get the love I believe it deserves, so I wanted to share how I prep mine to get it perfect every time. The biggest reason it gets hated on, that I hear being complained about anyway, is that it doesn't break up well. That is true, but only if it's too wet. Which, if you follow some of the teks out there, they will come out too wet and clumpy
If you nail the moisture content, RGS breaks up beautifully in my experience

I'm not claiming this is my tek- I'm sure there's others before me that figured out the perfect prep for RGS. But I haven't found a tek yet that uses the ratios I have found to work best.

This is how I do no-soak, no-simmer RGS:
(You must weight everything to get it precise. Measuring volumetrically is too inaccurate. Precision seems to be key)
Weigh out 160 grams dry RGS (NOT RYE BERRIES) and load into each quart jar

Weigh 100 grams water and dump into the jars already loaded with RGS

Put lids on barely loose if using unmodified lids (finger tight if using lids with gas exchange filters) give a quick shake, and pressure cook for 90-120 minutes. That's it.

Once jars have cooled, you might notice some wet spots, but that's normal. Shake to redistribute moisture and inoculate.
As you can see in my video, it's not always required to beat your jars against a bike tire, or tennis balls.. etc. to get them to break up.

I personally think RGS is wonderful as, not only spawn, but for doing G2G as well given the seeds are small and provide a lot more inoculation points than larger grains.
Enjoy🍄💙
