Outdoor Ovoid Wood Chip Patches Never Fruited
    #26767737 - 06/21/20 07:46 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Last year in mid May I collected wild Ps. Ovoid.  With spores I made PF jars with wood chips  which colonized by June and was placed into wood chip mulch mixed in with apple BBQ smoking chips.  The ovoid mycelium colonized a quite large area by the time winter rolled around.

After the winter the mycelium woke back up and expanded more.  Some patches I plated grass seed. Some I cased with coir and/or vermiculite.  Some I just left plain wood chips.

Its now nearing the end of Ovoid season and I did not get any fruits from my cultivated patches. I watered on days without any rain and did my best to keep the vermin and bugs out.  I have heard people say you don't get fruits the first year, but I have seen examples of people getting fruits the first year so I am not sure if that holds true at all.

Does anyone have any tips to increase the likelihood of getting fruits next year?  I am obviously going to keep feeding them more wood chips, but I think i need to add some more ground cover?  If so recommendations of what kind?

Here are some pics if it helps.
