When will intel come out with a 64 bit processor? I am excited about the prescot, but will it be 32 or 64 bit? And does anybody know if the prescot will be out this time next year? And does anyone know what the clockspeed of processor will most likely be this time next year?
The Prescott core has been out for a while, but it is not very good; for it runs too hot and although it has a 2MB L2 Cache, it's also slower. The 32-bit CPU will be the last of the Pentium 4 processors, from Williamette (P4-A), Northwood (P4-C), and finally Prescott (P4-E).
You know, Intel already has a 64-bit chip called the Itanium 2. You're looking at an extremely hefty price tag, namely ~$2000.
