drawing up syringes in SHIP

hey, hoping I could get some feedback regarding a problem I encountered.
I received an oyster mushroom LC in a 'drawing up' syringe.
I used this LC to knock up a unicorn bag of grain through a self-healing injection port.
straight after this, I used some of the LC syringe on an agar plate for sterility testing and to save the culture. All the above was done under sterile conditions in a flow hood.
I had my doubts at the time, because the drawing up needle was blunt, whereas i always use hypodermics. I was thinking maybe this fat needle will leave a small perforation, rendering the SHIP permeable to contams.
5 days later and there is black mould in the grain bag, meanwhile the agar plate is showing a clean culture. While this does not rule out the possibility that some contaminant was introduced to the bag on the surface of the needle (even though I definitely flamed it enough), or through some other operator error, I am thinking that the blunt drawing up needle is not the right tool for inoculation through SHIPs.
can anyone share some insight on this with me? cheers

Blunt needles are not meant to go through an injection port. You should have opened the bag to squirt the LC in. I start my grains in quart jars and then transfer to my grain bags. I also use reclosable cable ties for sealing all my bags they make the job so much easier and are quicker than an impulse sealer. The cable ties can go in the PC without a problem...
https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Releasable-cable-50LBS-100pcs/dp/B004C4ZRIK/ref=sr_1_6?crid=HIGLIRZ7PKBF&dchild=1&keywords=monoprice+cable+ties&qid=1592713578&s=industrial&sprefix=monoprice+cable+%2Cindustrial%2C152&sr=1-6
I have these ties all over the place they come in very handy.

thanks for the reply. I pressed the bag lightly just now and felt and heard a stream of air coming from the hole in the SHIP... RIP that bag
I am curious now, how did they suck up the LC in the first place without puncturing the SHIP on the jar and risk contaminating the whole LC jar?
What is the purpose of these drawing up syringes in mycology? I have never needed to use them before, for LC or any other reason
Edit: thankyou for the cable tie comment. I use cable ties on my bulk straw oyster bags too

I really don't know much about LC or syringes to tell you the truth. I don't mess with them. I don't like to gamble that's why I don't go to the casino. I prefer to spend a little more and get grain spawn from Amycel, Aloha Medicinals, North spore or Mycelia. I take a single grain and put it on agar and make culture slants. I have the top producers and don't have to keep buying anymore. I would suggest you do the same if you are serious about the mushroom growing. I have plates if you are interested. Amycel 3015 and aloha medicinals Elma are my favorites.
I hope you are using the reclosable cable ties. I was the 1st to use the reclosable cable ties for growing mushrooms as far as I know.

yes I do use the cable ties which are able to be unlocked and reused. I never read anything about it before, they just seemed intuitive to use. It's impressive if you are the first to use them.
I do not like LC either, unfortunately this is how I received this culture. I typically make grain masters from agar, then do grain-to-grain transfers for subsequent spawn. I am in Australia, and commercial cultures are expensive to obtain ($150+ AUD per plate...). I appreciate the culture plate offer, I would happily make a deal if I was in the US.
Thanks for the help

I just prefer paying someone to do all the work. It is to much work to get it down to a monoculture and fairly expensive once you do all that work.
