It’s okay. I’m more worried about the growth pattern. But there’s nothing you can really do about that, it’ll be what it is.

I appreciate it. I'll keep posting updates so we can all see what went right/wrong. Let me know if there is any info that I can be providing to help others out in understanding what is happening.

A couple more update pictures.
Looking good?

Are those little spikes the beginning of pins or something else?

Looks like knots. Also looks quite terrible, like mold is about to spring forth

It looks a little iffy in there but I see knots so you'll have something popping up soon.

Thanks y’all. Just got my UV wand today so I gave it a little once over to see if I can stall the bacteria/mold.
We will see.

Ok, several new areas setting up hyphal knots.
Learning as I go, but I’m hoping I’ve got something to celebrate in a week or two!

youll get something at least. but it looks like some sort of bacterial contam all thru it🤷🏼 but you will get some fruits and be able to learn from it so the next grow will only be better. 👍😃 but what were your sterile work methods?? did u use agar? what are your environmental conditions? what is your substrate made of?? how long and how did u prepare the substrate?? info like that will always help others to pinpoint potential things that can cause shit to go wrong so the more info u provide the better your chances of figuring it out will be😃😃

Appreciate it. Here's everything according to my records.
I bought 3 - 1qt jars of rye berries on Etsy. I inoculated them on 5/22 via a spore vial of Golden Teachers. I didn't construct an inoculation box, so that is where my problems probably started. I mentioned that I lost one of the jars to contamination.
The jars were stored in the dark for the first ten days. Conditions were 85F day and 70F at night. They were then moved them halfway through to a room where they were getting some light. 73F consistently. I shook the jars on 6/12 and then "birthed" them into the tub on 6/19.
I used a half brick of coir (which I only used about 2/3 of when it was prepared) in my 12 QT sterilite container with a white lid (not clear). I know this isn't the exact monotub used in the brilliant tek by Bod, and using rye berries was also a deviation from the oats used in his experience. I simply tried to make work what I had, so I accept the caveat the ymmv. However, with the lid placed upside down there is a similar air gap as in the original tek. I've simply had a bunch of time to monitor the conditions inside the tub so I'm trying to monitor FAE / humidity / temp. Here's the air gap:

Since they've been in the tub, I've maintained 99% humidity. In the beginning, zero misting was needed (for about a week). I did take the top off about 2-3 times a day for a little FAE. Now that I've gotten a bit more activity I've been upping the FAE to taking the top off for about a half hour with a light fanning twice a day. Then I put the top back on, wait an hour or so and mist again. The tub has been between 77-85F. I have a small mat heater that I turn on to supplement during the evenings. The room ambient is about 73F and 40%RH.
I also purchased a UV want online that is supposedly safe for mycology but bad for bacteria. I used that both on 6/28 and today 6/29. Who knows if it works or not? I'm not knowledgeable enough to know.
Now I'm getting a bunch of knots, I hope to see some pinning here in a couple days.
Anyways, let me know if there is any more info I can provide. I've already learned how to prevent side pins by using a liner next time. I will also build a sterile box for inoculation next time. I will also change my jar conditions and wait an extra couple of days before transferring them to the tub, I think I rushed it a little this time.

Why, because the tub is opaque?
There is no certain type of tub that "does not allow side pinning", that is just nonsense.
PE and what other such strains? More nonsense.
The substrate, no matter what tub it's in, is going to consilidate and shrink.
This means the sides of the substrate is going to get FAE, unless you use a liner.
Light does not cause side pinning, FAE does.
And now, I get it. After seeing my tub grow, I can see the substrate and mycelia have consolidated and pulled back from the sides. Leaving a gap where air exchange is present and moisture is in abundance.

Should primordial/knots have a little hole at the top like this?
Most of my bigger little-guys have this hole in the top.

You might be growing some oysters It's been known to happen. Can you get a clearer close up?
Looking back on the grow it would explain the odd look of the myc. We're always looking at it expecting cube myc and gauging everything with that in mind.

Looks like Schizophyllum commune. If so it’s fucked, that’s a very aggressive contaminant mushroom.

If true, is that a contam problem, or did I get some bunk spores from a vendor?
