Mushroom ID needed
    #26759994 - 06/20/20 02:21 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Found these bad boys under a tree at the park I work at. I live on Long Island in the Atlantis NE and I rarely come across anything worth taking note of. Regardless there were a bunch of these clustered around a shaded area under a tree. Of the lot these two were the most untouched.

The pores are yellow but as can be seen on the larger mushroom a rusty red color developed as the plant either aged or was disturbed (idk which one).

The stem is a solid very sturdy 3-4 inches. For the smaller mushroom I’d say it’s from 3/4 inch to an inch although I didn’t pick it from the base of the mushroom.

The for the smaller mushroom is a solid 1/2 inch while the larger mushrooms cap diameter is roughly 2 1/2 inches long. The cap for both was more ocular than round. Both are convex caps.

Due to me spilling coffee on it I wasn’t able to get a pic of the spire print but the spore print showed to be a tad bit darker than the color of the pores seen on the larger.

Both mushrooms bruised immediately a dark blue green after any damage was done. (This is what made me curious to ID)

The caps darkened heavily after being picked as they were a lighter orange-yellow color at the time I picked them. Also the base of the mushroom didn’t bruise nearly as fast as the stem when it was picked, but that could just be because I went closer to the root base.

I knew there was a very slim chance they were active, and I never eat anything I pick the first time, but the insight helps 👍👍
