Microbes in the fridge
    #2675966 - 05/13/04 09:27 PM (20 years, 8 months ago)

I've heard so much concern in posts about the supposed hazards of dunking and/or cold shocking in the refrigerator because of all the contams it may be harboring. I was just wondering if anyone had anecdotal evidence of this (ie you're cakes/casings got contaminated in the fridge) or if this was just some spurious claim that somehow got propagated.

It's my suspicion that fridges aren't so bad as everyone thinks. The air in there is quite dry which isn't favorable for many possible contams and it's cold enough that any microbial growth would be severely retarded.

Butternut squash are softer than acorn or other types of squash, which makes them easier to cut and prepare.
