Don't worry meta he told everyone to eat fruitbodies that taste like ammonia in one of my threads. His concern for being right is obviously greater than learning to pass on teachings in a "safe" way.
Every time I've seen a PC expel steam it made loud hiss but since we all hear things differently maybe it wasn't so loud to a 10 year old and maybe even louder for an 80yr old. And whether it's technically air or water or steam or what the fuck ever comes out the top I know I can see it very well.
But if the pc isnt pressurized and the top is venting then obviously it's not loud at all and you can't see anything CAUSE NO PRESSURE IS WITHIN.....But clearly if it vented every so often momentarily it would only be because it had pressure inside and would probably vent loudly and with a clear visual of steam or air or water vapor or whatever little technicality bods looking for today.....metaphoric I totally get what your saying and especially the fact that this was involving the "proper" use of of pc....not the moderation style use we do with them for mush

Pressure feelz so goood
If you don't have a gauge on your PC, the way to tell it's at 15 psi (or whatever it's rated for) is when the weight bobbles, shakes, whatever and releases a little steam.
If you have it doing that constantly then you're trying to go too high for the Pc and it will constantly be letting out steam to try to stay at its rated pressure - annoying and it might run out of water. If you have it releasing steam every once in a while then you know you're good. If it never releases steam and the weight just sits there you could be close to pressure or way under and not know it.
I know most of you know that but I was just trying to get the final word in.

I hate when people make me side with bod
Just kidding, bod!
Steam is invisible. Gaseous water is not the same as water vapor, which is visible.
Can you see air? Can you see nitrous oxide? Can you see co2? The answer is no and the reason is because gases are invisible, including gaseous water.
@metaphoric- best to know what youre talkin about before debating. You legit couldnt have been more misinformed about this topic.

When Bod showed the video, we were in agreement. The issue was the terminology. I felt like their instructions would be misinterpreted by OP because they worded it exactly the same way you would word an incorrect method of overheating to make your weight jump up and release steam.

We don't know if op is using the term 'rocking' the same way you do. If he was actually describing overheating then the advice he got wouldn't have helped him at all. That's what I was trying to address.

The AA manual says 1-3 jiggles per minute.
Edit: What does the manual of your pc instruct?

Worked in a steel mill…had to carry a board in front of me when going thru our boiler house so I could tell if there was a steam leak (usually cut the board) because they were invisible.
Just sayin

Steam trace for piping was replaced by glycol simply because steam leaks were so dangerous. Invisible, silent and will cut your arm off clean.

My father was a steam turbine engineer. Also a pathological liar. But he did say once that they used to use broomstick handles to look for steam leaks in pipes. If your broom handle got cut in half you found the leak.

You adjust the flame so the weight toggles once a minute. It's not hard and that's how a pressure cooker operates. I didn't say to crank it up like crazy.
And yes steam actually shoots out!! It's supposed to when the weight toggles.
