If you have a smartphone, theres some really good mediation apps out there.
The best way to stop having panic attacks is to have better control of your mind and mindful mediation is one method to do that. Also try microdosing shrooms, should help you out.
Biofeedback training has also been showed to be effective as well.

Stopped using cannabis products
Meditation and yoga too, but in all honesty it was the weed

Weed. Coffee, Tobacco. Three sources of anxiety if used daily, Weed initially calms people down but many tend to anxiety after years of use.
Caffeine is a stimulant and nicotine, a stressor in itself.
People often forget caffeine - its a major culprit, many people on anti anxiety drugs are this because they drink coffee. They just don't make the link between anxiety disorders and taking a stimulant.

This might sound cliche, but:
- Meditation - Exercise - Super healthy diet - Breathing techniques (there are many, experiment until something clicks) - Therapy - Lay off substances that psychologically destabilize you - Occasional benzo for emergencies
The key is being consistent with these things though. Benefits won't crop up over night but if you can commit things will improve down the line. I wish you well OP

Thanks to the national crisis on opioids benzos were also cut dramatically so now barely anyone gets anxiety meds teheyy try and give u ssris like u said which don't help anxiety at all
I told my doctor it didn’t feel like a serotonin issue I’m still a happy person I just get panic/anxiety attacks sometimes so an SSRI doesn’t make sense cuz it’s not depression it’s anxiety. He instantly gave me a Xanax script.
Maybe it’s easier in Canada tho.

I found out my panic attacks were happening FROM phenibut. Idk how many ppl know what that is, but it helps ppl with anxiety but if you abuse it, it can backfire. I was having full blown panic attacks from it. That was dumb of me.

CatsLoveHouseMusic said: So Im so done bitching about this anymore, sorry. I finally was able to “fight off” my first panic attack that was already in a bad way. Please give me some tips and some love here. Seriously. This shit can seriously fuck your life up.
Im going to start meditating, any pointers?
Im going to get better sleep (already started,) and eat better (more.) Not trying to be all debby downer super serious (cereal) but damn this shit sucks. I started to feel like im going crazy. Thanks for your time. I have no other on the surface mental health issues.
So back around 2015, I had my first full-blown panic attack which came out of nowhere. I was convinced I was going to die and thought maybe it was my blood pressure. I calmed down that night and the next day it came back and I ended up going to the hospital. They told me I was probably just exhausted (not sure why they didn't recognize it as a panic attack). In any case, they became a near constant occurrence. If I wasn't in a full-blown panic attack, I was on the verge of one for months after the first one. I even had to take two weeks from work because I just wasn't functional.
I've had one in the past year. It definitely got a lot better. I think it begins to go away naturally as you consistently deal with them and your subconscious begins to recognize that there isn't any real damage coming from them. It's like exposure therapy. The absolute most effective thing for me, though was mindfulness. Once a full-blown panic attack comes on, there really isn't anything you can do to stop it. The key is identifying the sensations in your body before a panic attack. I'd notice my breathing becoming shallower and more rapid, my posture would become more tense and I'd start to feel a general stomach discomfort, like nausea. Noticing then and taking relaxing actions at that point is the best defense.

All GABAAagonists can cause rebound anxiety. Phenibut is notorious for it along with it's withdrawals. There are lots of ways of dealing with anxiety/panic attacks, some healthy. others not so much. I just abuse the fuck out of benzos, double edged sword that will eventually cut me(again, already had WD seizures before)

So, idk if my situation applies because my panic attacks were related to ptsd and were kind of rolled into one really intense larger flashback experience where I legitimately thought I was in imminent danger - I actually called 911 at one point, I was so scared, and luckily the cops(who showed up in like 2 seconds flat, go figure) were pretty nice about it when my roommate explained the situation. But..
My experience with panic attacks is that once they start, you kind of have to ride it out, it's sort of like a bad trip in that way. You can make it easier, you can possibly shorten it. If you can recognize that you're on edge and identify what is triggering you(kind of a shame that word is so easier to joke about these days, but I mean it in the legitimate sense) then sometimes you can shut it down before it happens. That takes a lot of self reflection and therapy. It took a lot of sleepless nights before I was able to meet the situation in a calm, rational manner and knew exactly what was going on in my brain, and that even though every fiber in my being felt the opposite - I was okay.
I rode out a lot of them with the help of my roommate and a friend crashing on my couch on the regular - I found out that if I had a person there, anyone, that I would be able to deal with it - wouldn't be able to sleep..would have the phone in my hand ready to dial 911, but I would usually just kind of be able to hang on and watch tv. These nights got less frequent over many months, and eventually years, I went into therapy on and off, and when I started addressing the trauma and how it was effecting me in a healthier way they went away for good.
I wish, at the time, that I would've just gone and gotten some fucking xanax . So many sleepless nights..I kept so many people other than myself awake too, and to be honest, it was absolutely miserable just kind of fighting it all the time - but it's been years and I haven't had a single one, have never needed benzos, am not on any meds, etc.(other than weed which I take medically for ptsd and anxiety). Idk if that would've been the same if I would've gone on benzos, I feel like it probably wouldn't have been as severe but it would've dragged out the whole ordeal even longer.

PTSD is related to panic attacks, just like x10. From my understanding in people with PTSD the flight.fight feedback loop in the brain is broken, and once it is started just continually self-reinforces, making it worse that just a panic attack.

I literally had no idea what was happening in my body at first - screwed up flight or fight reaction is exactly how I'd describe it. Auditory hallucinations, these weird hot and cold flashes, dizziness, uncontrollable shaking to the point where I couldn't even hold things sometimes - by the same time next year? poof, all of that pretty much disappeared completely over time and turned into mild depression and anxiety at it's worst. weird, but definitely not complaining.

Very similar experience. I got my PTSD after having panic attacks for years though. Or futher events traumatized me.
It was crazy how different life was after getting it treated. Looking back it's crazy how logical irrational things seemed.
Thank you for all the details.
I've thought about detailing out my experience in PM&W but I'm just not ready for that. So reading yours was a bit cathartic.

Benadryl, man. It might seem crazy but it’ll definitely level you out. I do it quite often because I have really bad anxiety and don’t want to have to buy and take Xanax all the time. Also, breathing/meditation help me a lot. I’ll be honest with you man I have terrible anxiety and these techniques work very well short-term but you also want to work on getting rid of the anxiety completely. Come up with a routine and write it down, follow it as closely as possible, eat well, exercise and in general just try to improve yourself. You’ll come a long way in a pretty short amount of time if you just focus on what’s causing the anxiety and fix it.
