Purchased 2 bridgesii cuttings. The middle cut has 2 growths on it. Curious as to what they are.

Those appear to be roots starting to form. It must have been laying on it's side for a while. Some people actually root cuttings like that. It's called the log method. I'm sure it will still spit roots out at the bottom if you plant it upright though. If they bother you aesthetically, you could very carefully remove them with a sterile knife or scalpel. There will be a couple scars, but barely noticeable. Monitor the spots and keep them relatively dry until they callous over if you decide to remove them.
Good luck!

That answers my question about wether or not they're ready to sit upright in perelite.

Would log rooting increase my number of pups in the future?

I've honestly never done it so maybe someone else can chime in. From what I've seen on the forums, I don't think necessarily though.

It could, but you could also cut the tip of the cuttings you have and can form multiple pups. You have two cuttings, try both.

By the looks of them they weren't grown the best. Very narrow. Hardly over an inch wide. The center cut that's rooting from its side looks to have been taken between 2 joints. Got both of them plus a fat Pedro tip cutting sitting upright in dry perelite. With any luck I can get the Bridgesii cuttings to widen up after they root and recut them in a couple years these are my first cacti. I'm learning on the fly
