Various Trichocereus: Questions I know y’all wanna answer.
    #26755775 - 06/18/20 09:49 PM (3 years, 7 months ago)

A} This is a 4 seedling pot of supposedly Bridgesii. My questions for these are : a) first off how are they looking and second do you think they’re ready to be separated? They’ve all grown about an inch since being put outside and are 3.5-4 in tall.

B} This is a supposed Pachanoi. It seems to be growing decently well (An inch or so)since it has been outdoors. If you guys seen anything wrong let me know please.

C} This is another suspected bridgesii. (I keep saying “supposedly” is because I bought them from a random person and have no experience in identifying them.) it fell off the porch and broke almost in half and bent in another place. It has however seem to recuperate a significant amount and is looking ok (to me anyway) besides the battle scars. Also grown an inch since put outside.

D} And last but not least (but it actually is unfortunately). It supposed to be a T. Macrogonus. I kept these things in the window seal during the winter and none of them grew then but this was the only one that did this:

They’ve all been in the same conditions and environments the whole time. No difference between either of them. I posted it in another thread but didn’t get much variety of answers. So, if you all have any ideas throw em at me for sure. Sorry for the long post, hope it wasn’t too long though. Thanks in advance fellas.

A
Yes I would separate them and they are looking good.
B
He looks fine but a bit skinny. I bet the tip will start to fatten up now that he’s outside.
C
Also a bit thin but u can see he’s starting to fatten up at the tip.
D
Looks like a lost cause. I would probably cut it down a inch or 2 above the base where it’s the thickest and cross your fingers and hope it pups. If not it’s probably dead.

Ok thanks for the positive news for the other. It sucks because the MAC was the one I was most interested in. I’ll definitely give the cut/pup idea a try. What do I do with it after I cut that bottom off?

Also, do you think I should change pots and if so what kind? And one more, the dirt it’s in drains well and everything but it’s just regular top soil basically with some chips in it. Do you think I should change it as well? Any specific brand/mix?

The last one needs to have its roots cutoff, its the only way that I know of to fix the "I just don't want to drink" syndrome. I have brought back some pretty sad plants by doing this.
