Wild collected prints
    #26717534 - 06/03/20 07:18 PM (3 years, 8 months ago)

I have managed to get several very dark prints from some fruits I collected in SE Tex. I was wondering if anyone could give me pointers on cleaning them up on agar. I haven't done this before but do have experience on the gar. Any advice is welcome. Thanks

Definitely not advanced. Just sayin.

It's the same as cleaning an indoor print. Streak it and make transfers early

for impossible wild prints,
cut small strips of rockwool and spread a few out on a petri dish.
put a few drops of agar on each piece of rockwool.
add spores.
some rhizoids will stick out of the rockwools if the spores sprout.
select rhizoids with needle tip tweezers to fresh normal agar plates.

sometimes it works.
i revived a culture from a cap once that was stomped flat by a cow on a barn floor with that method.

As others said; similar to domestic prints, you’d scrape/swab spores onto the plate and make early transfers as soon as you find myc. Reason is because there will be contamination as well in that plate.

Thanks. At this point I'm hoping I get enough time to make it happen. Work sucks
