PF tek to bulk, when to birth cakes?
    #26753288 - 06/18/20 03:00 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Should I mix the substrate and spawn (grated) in a bag and allow to colonise and then rinse/mist to initiate fruiting? Or hydrate the spawn prior to adding to substrate and allow to colonise in a humid grow tent misting while colonizing? I feel not all the substrate would colonise using the second method and so the yield would be smaller. First attempt, thank you for your time.

Personally, I birth when jars are 100%. No consolidation or dunk. Birth into a ziplock and crumble into little peices. THen i mix that into cooled cococoir i pasteurized at 160f for 3hr.

After that I do nothing until almost the end of the grow. No misting, no fanning, I just let it colonize then fruit on its own with out me initiating.

Also,

You wouldn't want to initiate fruiting until the whole tub has colonized usually a solid 14 days.

At that point you could introduce a little fae. I don't finding misting necessary with coir because it retains moisture well.
