Some of you may know the effects of grounding ourselves to earth, also known as "earthing".. walking barefoot etc..
Here's a little read about it:
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/241219438_The_effect_of_Earthing_grounding_on_human_physiology#:~:text=Previous%20research%20(12)%20showed%20that,sleep%20dysfunction%2C%20pain%20and%20stress.

I was wondering about the effects on monotubs if one run a wire from earth ground to the substrate..

I'm not sure you're gonna find anyone with a good answer for you bro. Chin up though, these are the perfect kind of experiments for self quarantine and a substantial bag of K

Corrosion would probably be the only measurable effect

But you said would.. that dont sound so firm..
If it have an effect on us humans, its probably the same for animals, plants, fungus etc..?
No?

Its supposed to explain what exactly?

Wanted to talk about energy, connection to earth, etc.. controversial a bit but worth a discussion.. end up talking about quarantine, ketamine, rust and birds...
Im off to sleep

Didn't mean to offend. My apologies.

To be fair I just actually read the link instead of skimming it like I did when you posted it. Far out and interesting.

Idk the validity of any of this stuff but I have always had an instinctual dislike of shoes. I never really wore them when I didn’t have to up until my 20s. I’d walk everywhere barefoot all the time.  My mom hated it.

Does bare feet on concrete count or is it only dirt?

Whether it tunes your body or not, I’m 100% team dirty hippy feet.

It seems like it would be good to be connected to the ultimate source of life on earth. You know, the earth itself. Most of us take for granted the complex, living breathing, pulsing thing that the earth is. It's not just an inert rock under our feet.

Billions of years of evolution have forged an intimate relationship between us(whoever us might be) and our mother. Babies benefit from skin contact with their mothers too.

Yo, I'm high as fuck

Considering tub grows outperform nature by a orders of magnitude I would only assume earth grounding would lower performance if it was capable of doing anything at all. Which it doesn't do anything at all

Yes but maybe the mushrooms will feel reduced stress about the impending mass murder “harvest.” It’s worth exploring.

My outdoor grows always went real well. Super bacterial spawn, nice spawn, moldy spawn,  to untreated hpoo...mushroom explosion. There’s definitely something magical about the earf. If you bury someone in it they basically disappear.

I just skimmed that link as well but I’ll read some more later. Young me was always barefoot and loved it, even in the winter for as long as I could get away with it. It makes sense it could effect us since we’re a crazy chemical and electrical creature. I don’t think it would really do much for a tub indoors but wtf do I know about electricity

My one year old walks around barefoot all day and she’s a total asshole. I will try wrapping a wire around her and tethering the other end in dirt to see if it changes her attitude.

:curbyourenthusiasm:

Alright op, so they measured changes in electrical activity, no surprise I guess. Were these changes maintained though through grounding?
Whatever it may be, it certainly feels good to walk on bare feet some times, or sit on the ground.

Take a multimeter, put ground to earth ground in your home(the round hole in your wall plug, put setting to ac, and touch the positive of your tester.. this will indicate your voltage.. do the same under an electric line, put ground into soil and touch positive... now go on the grass, take off your shoes and test again.....
You'll see

Well, you linked to a study of “earthing” on human physiology and then wondered aloud how it might affect tubs of mushrooms. So I checked what the study looked at, as well as what it references from previous studies:

  • sleep dysfunction
  • pain
  • stress
  • blood volume pulse
  • heart rate
  • electrophysiological properties of the brain and musculature

I think imagination, not intelligence, is required to see a correlation between those areas and the life cycle of a fungus. Not to mention that, as Bod pointed out, tub grows already outperform nature.

So yeah, I guess I felt like that study was as relatable to mushroom cultivation as any other study that has nothing to do with mushroom cultivation (or cultivation of any kind), which is not at all.

Hope I’ve added something of sufficient intelligence to the conversation. My apologies for making a joke earlier.

The studie isn't related to mushroom cultivation..
Its simply a "read" ABOUT" the subject..
The link doesn't contain all the information and answers about grounding ourselves.. its a read to introduce a bit to the subject for those here who know absolutely nothing about this..
People will make their own research if curious about it.. anyway
This thread have been created by my imagination yes..
This thread have not been created to show that
THERE IS an effect..
This thread have been created to discuss about this IDEA
Because having new idea is how we get forward.
What if i bring the imagination and then you bring your intelligence to verify the shit out of it?
Instead of just trying to disprove without any evidence,
At least we will know... because we verified that field too..
What if we get together...

That's shit hurts. One time I had to walk across town and one of my shoes had finally given up and the sole fell off. So I just ditched them. My feet were tore the hell up and I felt every single rock and peddle I stepped on lmao.

Yesterday I was hiking and stepped on a cactus the spines went through the side of my shoe and it got me to thinking about that show on discovery I think it was where the mcdodge character or whatever his name is runs around the woods barefoot and I got to thinking how I'm the hell can anyone do that shit.

Sorry I have nothing to add to this thread just saw all the barefoot discussion and thought I'd join in on it. I have nothing to add about the birds, rust or ketamine.

While I'm off topic though can I say that I like your avatar pic carcace. I'm not sure what it's from but it reminds me of the crypt keeper. Oh how I miss tales from the crypt.

Was more of a question no hate or condescension or ridicule intended.
I was basically asking why you chose it for your avitar picture.

Idk why you would post that I turn everything I ignore into ridicule not only was I not ridiculing anything I wasn't exactly ignoring anything. Just because I know nothing about it doesn't mean I'm ignoring it exactly. That's the way I see it anyways.
Or maybe that wasn't meant for me? I'm not sure.

I know i was joking about the electric mushrooms “shocking you” when you eat them. Try it out. We dont know much about electromagnetic interference with mushrooms. But everything is connected by electricity. So its an interesting thought. Even things like wifi are banned in daycares and elementary schools in some European countries due to effecting children and babies.

I read an article about zapping subs with high voltage increased yield of some gourmet species a crazy amount.

It said Japanese shiitake farmers have always said lightning storms mean good harvest so some lab tried it out. I think it had worked in 8 out of 10 species they tested.

I wonder if the increase in yield covered the cost of electricity used. The world is strange.

The interesting thing about the Japanese lightning article is that no one's reproduced the results and no commerical grower uses it

Oh really? I never looked into it that far cuz it seems like a dumb thing to make up.

I wonder if they exaggerated results or if the commercial farms already have shit dialed in and don’t want to revamp the whole operation.

Research studies on mushrooms are usually pretty shit. Most of the time they don't establish the ability to grow at a level proficient enough to actually notice improvement in performance. If you're not at the top of your game adding nitrous boost isn't helpful.
There's lots of "magic bullet" research on oysters too. If there actually was a way to increase yields by double digit percentages farms would be stopping at nothing to integrate that technology

Everything is the magic bullet nowadays. If they report reasonable findings then nobody even pays attention. #jaded

Idk about mushrooms, but since this thread started I have been doing this with myself. Once or twice a day for a few minutes to an hour. Basically just barefoot when I'm in the yard.

I can't say it cured my cancer or anything(well I don't even have that), but it sure feels good. So for that reason alone it's a positive even if it's only my mood affected.

But, my arthritis is less problematic lately. Especially after I come in. I'm sleeping better/ less. Basically I just feel better.

Now that's not exactly scientific evidence or anything. Hell it could all be in my head, just feeling better cause I'm more in contact with nature.

I wonder what would happen if you dug a pit in your shed and grew mushrooms in that. Eliminate the massive fae , get rid of the sun. Like growing inside, except in the earth. I know everything I ever chucked outside grew. Well. But there's a lot of other factors at play.
