Looks Promising But No Bruising
    #26750675 - 06/17/20 04:05 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Habitat:
Wooded hillside in a public park. Western Tokyo Prefecture Japan. 150m Above Sea Level

Gills:
see photo

Stem:
Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.

Cap:
30mm

Spore print color:
I don't risk carrying possibly active species in Japan.

Bruising:
None noted

Other information:
The shape and color of the cap reminded me of one of the active species I have read about online but the lack of bruising makes me think it is not an active mushroom. I am interested in any edible, medicinal, or active species. I have decided to make mushrooms a long term study project.

Looks like Inocybe species to me. Could be Inocybe rimosa, which is toxic containing muscarine.

Thanks, using that name I looked online and it is a great match. Are there some resources you could point me to so I can learn more about identifying mushrooms?

You can start with the following key:

https://www.mushroomexpert.com/major_groups.html

It is an American site, however it also covers species that are found worldwide. It is nevertheless a good way
to learn the basics of how to distinguish between the major groups and genera of mushrooms.
