Subs

As I am totally new to picking mushrooms, does this mean that I can eat these without dying.

After some reading I thought they could possibly be psilocybe subaeruginosa but obviously am erring on the side of caution.

Cheers.

Yes, these are psilocybe subaeruginosa - 'subs' for short

As a beginner, you can note a few tings to look out for - the blue bruising is the dead giveaway - make sure all your subs bruise blue before consuming.  Another good way to tell that you have psilocybe subaeruginosa is the spore print, which is a purple/brown colour.

So it looks like you have psilocybe subaeruginosa here and that you will indeed not die from consuming them.  Hopefully it will be much more fun than that!  Enjoy
