Been having a lot of success, despite being a popular spot. I've been enjoying the beautiful nature, seeing deer and kangaroos around and taking lovely photos. This is my first season having a successful find but I didn't think it would be so successful. Anyway here's some of my favourite photos from the last few weeks.

Went for a long hike today in a familiar pine forest south of adelaide and came across quite a few subs in places that are new to me. Lots of primo ones and heaps of pins, you really had to watch where you stepped sometimes. It was hard but i managed to not pick a single one. Could have filled a bucket but no need. Took over 100 shots with my shitty old iphone, trying to get the thing to focus is a pain.
So here's just a few photos from my sub hunts so far this season. Its been fun finding the weird looking ones.

A few photos from yesterdays hunt which yielded nothing of significance, but I thought these were interesting. I have no idea what that blob is but i found a few of them around at different locations.

Then today's find at one of my more reliable spots. There were quite a few pins around too.

Anyone know what these are? They looked really cool.

Great pics! I've been lazy AF with the photos this year, sorry. Finally found some keepers at least.

Got a good haul of Lepista nuda as well, my favourite edible mushroom so far. They seem to be more common along the roadside than in the forests. Unfortunately the big paper bag they were in split just as I brought them inside.

Could be Hygrocybe chromolimonea

Nice finds all.

Vibrance said: Growing from cattle dung these ones. Seemed much more robust than the alutacea I normally see but they definitely showed bruising. I don't think they could be anything else?

Good observation here Vibrance. P.alutacea can grow much larger on cattle/horse manure than kangaroo dung. Here's some from horse manure. Some gorgeous shots in your collection
@The Thing Thanks for posting those nice finds. I photographed that same bell cap patch in mid July last year and it was just starting to fruit. They're a really beautiful phenotype.
@sausages Lemon Tek?
How do you prepare the Lepista nuda? I've not tried them but have them growing on my property and now I'm intrigued.
@Luigi Savada Mushy The dung growing specimen is Protostropharia semiglobata. Often found growing nearby P.alutacea so keep your eyes peeled for similar looking specimens.
Grabbed some more pictures of the P.tasmaniana suspects yesterday. Parts of the forest were a few inches under water from the recent deluge.

Will update with microscopy results as they become available.
Some subs growing nearby

and P.alutacea trying to keep head above water.

Just an improvised drying rack... or is it?
I'm not a foodie and don't have a favourite recipe for Lepista nuda yet but I love a good mushroom omelette. The key thing is that LN absolutely must be cooked thoroughly. Their flavour and texture make them quite versatile and a good substitute for regular A. bisporus in well-cooked recipes, a superior substitute imo. Might try a stroganoff with some of them.
The P. tasmania finds are pretty exciting! Keep up the good work bob!

I found some beautiful LN mid south.
Cut into chunks. Melt butter. Coat chunks in butter. Transfer into bowl with crushed corn flakes and good grated pecorino plus S&P. Coat well. Cook on med-high heat in oven for 20 or so minutes. Voila! Strong, earthy and delicious.
And, Bob, incredible as always!

so I guess this isn't directly hunting related, but I am intrigued how everyone here uses/consumes/preserves their finds? A bunch of mentions about having enough to last the year so I'm wondering are you guys using only a few times a year? Microdosing? Let's here the methods. For me personally it's microdosing, ground into a fine powder and put into capsules so every dose is the exact amount as the last with the occasional weekend couple of gms.

Younger me tripped as much as I could to be honest. Nowadays I'm as invested in meditation as I am psychedelics. Different relationship for sure, psilocybin is in part my guru. I trip less now. Last time I tripped with purpose I consumed 20gm's dry, around a week or 2 ago. I've never microdosed but I plan to start. I have enough to supply myself and my best friend for micro dosing for a long while, and enough to trip with many people and as hard as we want for I would say at least a year. I have picked around 8kg wet weight this season already. In terms of storage, cracker dry with silica gel and oxygen absorber in airtight jars. I'm also going to make some big batches of honey. I bought some nice blue/violet powder food colouring and edible gold dust so even though the mushrooms will be dry, my honey will still look magical. I got some good 40+ TA Jarrah Honey for it. I guess I'm extra, dw I roll my eyes at myself already.
In other news, I went out this morn to inspect the patch of monsters I found recently, a lot more pins than I expected. The teenagers I last saw are now 8-10cm caps. No 11+ ones though. Still cool to see big boys out there. Also just gave myself my second tattoo,

Sadly today, I am putting down my pupper. Peace and love to you mushroom family. You lot rock my socks off. All the finds, adventure and love. Very grateful✌️❤️

I have about 30g dried. I just had my first trip with 1.5g dried and it will be some time till I try that one again. Will explore 1g doses. Prob do one trip every other month.
I have dehydrated and stored in an airtight jar. I think I will make honey from 1/3.
Re microdosing? do you do 0.1g what is the impact?

So I keep mine all in powder form, in capsules with exactly .25gms in each one. I take 1 cap every day and on weekends occasionally I might take 4 to make a full gram. You can split the caps in half to pour the powder in a tea of on anything you're eating. I find the effect .25 perfect for an every day amount. The only way I can explain it is all senses are heightened. Sounds and colours are so much brighter and clearer. Focus and listening is amazing and you will find yourself learning and wanting to know how everything works. I love all that way more than tripping
