I'm using lotkid's "just the tips" I followed it to the T. should I consider it good to go or wait for ph strips.
side note, I'm trying to fruit galindoi!
In case you don't know the recipe Peat/Verm @ 1:1 Hydrated lime @ 1 tsp per cup of dry peat Gypsum @ 5-10% total dry volume (gypsum doesn't need to be exact the hydrated lime does) I don't use oyster shell.
I mix my dry peat, lime and gypsum together and mix it really well then hydrate to field capacity. I hydrate my verm separately. When both are properly hydrated I mix them together and pasteurize.

it doesn't seem that bad to me, i broke it down like this.
step 1
1 quart peat 4 teaspoons lime 1/4 cup gypsum
mixed dry then hydrated with 450 ML tap water
step 2
1 quart verm hydrated with 300ML tap water
then combined
if all goes well I'll post results and have prints in the market.
for a visual reference it is an exact replication of RR'S casing video from "let's grow muahrooms"

That's a classic and long time gold standard recipe. While peat does widely vary in ph , that recipe should get you in the ballpark with just about any brand of peat.
Check out this link for some interesting insight and great information on the casings and the whole process. http://www.thenook.org/archives/tek/casewater.htm
Good luck, and dont over moisten it and turn it into mud, or knock down the fine mycilial braches. Casing is an art in itself and a wonderful tool for us to use. I will case all my optional casing spp. Especially in a mono, tray or greenhouse.

after many attempts yesterday, I went to bed defeated. I have one ph strip left and no clear recipe for my project. my next question would be what's a good casing that doesn't use lime smh.

it was my tap water ph giving me fits.
after going through 50 ph strips and a gang of batches I've found the sweet spot, don't give up in your process!
