Bulk substrate+ casing layer?

If I allow my verm, coir bulk to colonise would there be benefit to dunking it after that and doing a verm, or just hydrating a poly casing layer to go on top or is that pointless? Is a poly casing suitable for cubensis?

Poly? Like polyester fiber stuffing- like polyfil? I'm not sure I'm following.
The substrate will still have plenty of water in it after colonization, as long as it was properly hydrated before spawning. If the substrate needs additional moisture at any time before the first flush(it might not), then just mist it as needed.
A casing layer generally isn't needed for cubes unless you're trying to avoid a blob flush with a blob prone PE variety. A casing won't hurt with regular cubes- it just doesn't add a significant benefit IME.
Whatever you do, just don't case your substrate with soggy polyfil. Or if you insist, at least post photos of it for us

Casing might be beneficial and save some work of monitoring the moisture level of the substrate from what I have understood. Some people claim better flushes from casings, some don't. Dunking, no. Case with coir or coir/verm that is hydrated, sprinkle on top or gently level it out. Research yourself for more info about casing and top layers.

Its not polyfill its an artificial polyester substance that came with my grow bags to function as a hydrating casing layer in place of verm. So to clarify to initiate the fruiting stage just must after bulk has been colonised?

And a casing layer won't keep you from needing to monitor your substrate
