I need some help with my LW cacti
    #26745831 - 06/15/20 07:29 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

Hello, and thanks for the potential help.
I need some help with these LW seedlings. Plants 6-2-2019.
They germinated ok, and I kept them inside through the winter in moderate light that my house plants thrive in.

Since then, this is how they look. Very small, red/brown and weak looking. They haven’t put on any size at all, but aren’t dead either. I’ve tried a different soil mix(reported about 3 months ago) giving them more light, less light, more water, less water and they don’t show any improvement.
I had them growing indoors in a window that got. Few hours of evening late day sun, but have since moved them outside into a shady spot.

Any advice would be helpful, thank you.

how much are you watering them? I actually grew some of these for a couple years, because I acquired some seed for free, and thought what the heck. I used to mist mine everyday, and water them if the soil was dry. Contrary to what people say/believe, Lophs and Trichs can take a lot of water, much more than your ordinary cacti  Mine got huge in those two years, and I gifted them all away to a cactophile friend

I’ve done months where I watered once every 2 weeks and I’ve done 3 times a week. I’m trying to figure out what these want, they just don’t come around.
I’ve grown LW successfully, have a head I got in a trade that’s happy for 3 years and others I grew from seed that are doing well.

Those little guys are getting too much light. Keep them in the shade until they green up a bit.

I have them in a really shaded area and they have been for months. They’re inside, off the side of a window that only gets 2-3 hrs of light a day.  They aren’t getting any direct light

That’s good definitely keep them out of the direct light. Sometimes they take a while to green up again. Hopefully there not too sunburnt and recover happily.
