Its a stage of drying out. Those are subs.

Just wanted to share an epiphany of sorts.
Went to a local park (mushroom-unrelated activity) and noticed someone walking around the carpark slowly, looking at the ground. Approached them very casually and friendly and asked, whether they were looking for magic mushrooms. My experience with that park hasn't been great, so wanted to share my findings and save them time.
The dude denied looking for mushrooms, although immediately proceeded to tell me he's seen some, and shown me a few patches right away. I must say I was flabbergasted by what I saw - I passed those spots a few times on my way, and absolutely failed to see the fruits! Given, they were much more dark and smaller than the ones I have been finding so far, but still!
Then we went around the carpark, him showing me more spots and educating me. What an absolute legend. None of us picked anything, perhaps too shy of each other's presence.
I left humbled and inspired, and immediately, after driving away a few hundred meters, found a few subs growing on a shady side of a mulch pile.
Note to self: don't be shy asking for help or approaching people. Also, don't assume you know everything.
Thank you, awesome stranger!

After lots of research and views from some experienced pickers here I finally came across my first big find, and a rather beautiful one at that. Their veins were shining blue from far away and all bruised blue upon picking them. The stems are thick and not too soft to touch and all other charecteristics seem fine. These are two different patches found in pine plantation North of Melbourne. One location was shady and dark and the shrooms picked from there can be seen as more darker and more potent. The rather small ones look fantastic too. I was careful to not pick the very small ones let em grow plus spreading the spores around. What do you guys think? Are they subs? I'm a newbie and would appreciate the help. thanks heaps

Very nice find! Certainly looks like a lot of subs to me. There are a couple I'm not 100% sold on, like middle left in picture 2, or second-last from the right, top row picture 4.
If you can see blue bruising on them close up (hard for me to see any in those pictures/at that angle) they are most likely subs. Start an ID thread if you are worried and want a more expert opinion than mine

Loving this season, seems like Melbourne is amazing for subs!
Went past a few new areas and old patches and found some new subs growing there again!

How arw you guy's yielding all these shrooms? All my spots on the weekend had black mush subs... all located in the mountain. And there's been no rain for ages. Making me cut as haha. Is it because these were all picked at lower altitudes or something or more likely my usual spots have been raided of all good subs?

Went down to the Otways on the weekend with great success! Even though they hadn't had much rain we managed to get around 1.2kg wet between the 4 of us. Even managed to come across an echidna in our travels

Tried to Google this question but no luck
Will an area that spawned mushrooms 2 weeks ago re spawn again if Conditions are good? E.g. we have a few days where rain might come a week from now. Am I likely to find mushies in same spot or would I be looking for new ones ?
