What’s your opinion/experience on eating cooked chanterelles that where found in/nearpoison oak? Have you ever done it? Of course they will be cooked. I have done it before without any problems and I was not thinking about it but a few people on other pages say to never do so.

Well im highly allergic to poison ivy, so I wouldnt. But im not allergic to poison oak or sumac but i still wouldnt take the chance.
Id imagine itd have to do with the boiling point of the chemical or if heat even breaks it down

I can roll around in it all day and might have a tiny spot or two. I figure if I cook them really well it should not be a problem but the other members had me think otherwise.

I often weed eat it as well and never had more than a spot. Just seeing if anyone has had a bad experience or has more knowledge on the issue than me.

It shouldn't be an issue as long as you wash them well before cooking.

Thanks Doc! That's what I do normally anyways and cool them well. I love hunting chants and my favorite patch is in some poison oak.
