Expanding to an open-air grow room, have questions.

Hello all,
Just have some questions here on planning out my basement grow.
- What is the minimum RH I can get away with for open-air fruiting? I've seen people saying they run 95% but if possible I would hope to shoot for lower than this if possible.
- Does anyone have experience with doing something like an updraft air exchange system to keep spore load and contamination down? IE: Clean air would be fed to shelving/tables gently blowing upwards for FAE and the exhaust would be at the top of the room in hopes that most contaminate/spore would be lifted along this.
- Those single 55 barrel sterilizers like Bubbas, can they be used effectively for grain spawn? I see people using them for sawdust spawn and such but will they work for grain bags if one went that way? For those that haven't seen it it's a 20psi water flow through a float valve to keep water in a 55 barrel drum constant with an electric element in the bottom to boil and steam it. The lid has a small hole for steam to escape so you basically steam at atmosphere for something like 24 hours.
- Those with experience which would you recommend in a low ceiling unfinished basement. Making walls from plastic so they can be hosed down with bleach solution fairly regularly or studding up actual walls, using a humidity resistant drywall and oil based mold resistant enamel.
- What things may I have not taken into consideration with this, if you can bounce some off of me that would be great.
- In a high RH environment should light fixtures for my growing lights be rated as weatherproof or would simple T5HO fixtures work without screwing around?

It sounds like you’re biting off a lot more than you can chew here. Open air grow rooms are a pretty huge challenge to dial in and get right, how many pounds are you trying to grow? Because unless you’re aiming for more than 10 lbs a week, I’d say a dialed in grow room would be a total waste.

I can speak on the "bubba barrel" type sterilizer. Yes it works "IF" set up & run properly. Remember you need to get the core of that grain mass up to temp & run from their I ran a single propane fired barrel back in 15. Recently stepped up to a dual horizontal chamber fed from a upright boiler vessel. Ya got to dial em in because if ya dont ya will end up with a giant compost pile of bacterial grain spawn. I would only recommend venturing down that path after some serious expierence under your belt. I can rattle off 100+ jars in a day in my kitchen with a couple presto's.. ask yourself, how much spawn do I really need.

Ideally 20+ I can already pull some pretty good weight with unbodified monos but if I could get away with it I'd love to have a fruiting room and use greenhouse propagation trays instead. I can get the conditions right I just need to know what the conditions should be and ideally for things like RH I would like to remain on the lower end of that range.
I got the time, money and such it's the parameters I need the information on.

I've put a good 140+ or so quart jars of spawn through my Presto in the past few months and it does the job I suppose. I've ordered 14A unicorn bags now so I can do 4quart bags and squeak just a little bit more out of it. I suppose one could buy a second Presto 23 and run them side by each to poop out bags every 3-4 hours. I don't mind jars so much but getting the plastic mainstay lids in Canada to do unmodified lids and stick with G2G is impossible. Why they don't sell them here I don't know and the Ball brand ones are stupidly expensive in comparison

Can you imagine 500 lbs of spawn and one of the trays starts to turn green?
