It's funny seeing bunch of city boys, who have never seen a garden before, attempt to grow something.

Those leach field systems have to be totally sealed our your just leeching sewage into the water table. Theyre also great for conservation if your demand is like a small hippie vegan family that takes little rabbit shits. When ur talking about a city block of people you have a real nightmare on your hands.

I dont have a problem at all. Its great amusement

The article mentions Antifa a lot, I thought the zone was a BLM thing

And now its going to be some hippy commune?

How can it possibly go wrong?

You know what would be really great? If somehow a bit of moneymaking got involved. Nothing brings out people's true nature like when there is some money to be made

So under the cardboard there's grass and the soil that was already there? I don't see a problem.

ah. i think its relevant. having trouble connecting the thought of train just woke up. the protests in seattle are on tribal land that was never ceded to the settlers.

"Early censuses of Native American communities are inexact — information gatherers had little knowledge of the seasonal rounds that moved whole populations within their territories — but conservative estimates state that tens of thousands of people lived in the Puget Sound country in ancient times. Even in the mid-1800s, following devastating waves of smallpox, tuberculosis, and other introduced diseases, every river drainage was home to hundreds if not thousands of indigenous people, and every favorable stretch of saltwater coast held a village of one or more extended families."

i don't either. some people will hate them no matter what they do. i think the intent behind what they're doing is beautiful. people should be growing food everywhere we can. would love to see a few more lawns turned into squash, beans and corn

It's a very common way of planting, not sure where these noobs are getting their info. It helps reduce weeds and can be done for basically free if you have a source of boxes.

Yeah it might have been ideal to turn over the underlying soil so it's not compacted, but the cardboard should at least act as mulch and kill off the grass to the plants don't have to compete with it.

oh. yeah, if that's what theyre doing that just sounds like a pretty basic no-till method. i don't think the commenters above are very experienced with urban farming. maybe they can post some pics of their own garden and show us how its done

Of course it mentions antifa. You think lowbrow reads anything but right wing media sources

That sucks.  She was a good horse.  Maybe don’t put a bullet in her yet.  I guess you could roast her out in the field?  Leave her where she lay.  Prolly woulda been better last night.  I wanna go distribute some mushie lemonade up in chaz.  Would be funny to drop a 10 gallon cooler of lemon tek

Strange you think people who live in the city don’t garden. If anything city folks know how to take advantage of their limited space.
