Are these subs okay to use?

Checked a spot a couple days ago and went back last night and all the good ones were picked. I took what I could, they were on the verge of being maggot infested. Brought them home, cleaned them up and they weighed about 5.5 g. Dried them out now they weigh about 1.1g. Never done any drug before but I read the Level 1 dose (according to the shroomery page for subs) is 0.5g.
How much should I take or should I just chuck them because they aren't nice examples.

They look completely fucked and have likely lost some potency but they're fine for consumption as long as they're not moldy. Eat them all, but if you want to start out really low, take half first and wait another hour before you eat the rest

You could probably dry them down to 0.5g still (usually you can get them to 10% of their wet weight) so probably all of them will give you the dose you want.
If you are worried about getting an upset stomach/bugs from them, I would suggest making a tea.

What's the logic behind making them into tea, slow ingestion reduces nausea?

Well the tea will make ingestion much faster, but I think the logic is that there are things inside the solids/flesh of the mushroom that cause nausea (particularly in icky ones like yours ><) so it's better to not eat the solid parts and try to just pull out the psilocybin into water and drink that instead. A little bit of hot water doesn't hurt to kill some bacteria either...

Put them in for another 4 hours or so. So like 6-7 hours, they are ultra dry. 1.08g, but they look real sorry for themselves.

Yeah I think you'll do more harm to yourself worrying about it and getting a bad trip, worst case is probably a few tummy grumbles, you'll be fine =P. I'd still eat them in lieu of anything else...

Damn damn damn, I was about to grind them into a powder and found that in a single day in a sealed glass jar, they took on 0.26 grams of moisture. They were 1.08 and went to 1.34 so I'm drying them again and will quickly powderise. I think they are probably still fine.
