Cheers bodhissatta; doubled my harvest weight. 1

All I can say is; “wow”.
Let me explain! I’ve grown from monotub for years, just enough to keep me going, so basically a Multispore grow once a year maybe.
Switched over to BOD’s Easy AF Unmodified Monotub Tek this year. It’s so easy, and so productive.
My first grow was in a 48L tub using a 650g coir brick and 7 rye grain (ms) jars. Basically it was wet, and I was away at work for 2 weeks. Harvested on coming home and got 1004g first flush.
Picked up a couple of spore syringes a while back; PES Amazonian, and Red Boy. Got 4 grain jars of each going. By now it’s May. Got myself a few 35L tubs, and halved a 650g coir brick and split for the two grows.
First point of note, the times were amazing! Amazonian jars started 3rd May. Spawned to tub 23rd May. First pins 3rd June. Harvested 758g 11th June.
WOW!!!
Secondly, this second grow using BOD’s Tek, with me at home fanning when needed and misting etc. I ended up with a much bigger harvest, and “better” mushrooms. I’ll caompare the grows below:-
1st grow Mazatapec. 1st flush 1004g from 650g coir, 7 jars, 48L tub. 94.3% water. Total equivalent dry weight: 57g.
1st flush harvest:

2nd grow PES Amazonian. 1st flush 758g from 325g coir, 4 jars, 35L tub. 90.4% water. Total equivalent dry weight: 73g.
Taken 2 days before I harvested:

WOW.
One chuffed to bits DJ Ed, people
Thanks bodhissatta

You mean you got a total of 73g dry first flush? That isn’t a great number monos should do in the 6-8 oz range first flush IMO.

Yeah that's some BS. Don't listen to this OP. Great job on increasing your yield but also at the same time don't get so caught up on it. It's all about fun and you seem to be doing great and I bet you're having fun as well so just keep trucking. Congratulations!!!

Apologize from 66qt just seen a lot on here low yields from monos and people thinking it’s a great thing is the idea to get a decent yield for all the work that goes into creating monos just my opinion not meant to knock OP if that’s his goal all the power to him but wouldn’t it make sense show reality of what other cultivators have done?

He already said he has increased his yield and he’s working from MS as opposed to clones from what you posted. OP is already at 47% of the best yield from that post on his second grow. Stop hating, where’s your grows at Mr. Big Time???
Sorry for thread jacking but I’m proud of you OP, keep up the good work and I’ll take a slam for you!!!

Thanks everyone for taking the time to respond to my post, I appreciate all replies. Thank you.
Had to laugh at a couple of posts: basically, yes I am having real fun with this. I’ve also been doing some other, less successful, experiments. Lime I’ve learned this year (excepting PE) that Psilocybe Cubensis does NOT need a casing layer!
But yeah, it’s the fun and the love of the growing. No idea what I’m going to do with all the stocks. Learning to grow (very basically) was my main focus that allowed me to wean myself off SSRI medication a few years ago. And since then I’ve come to love this hobby.
To confirm, yes they have all been multi spore grows to date. I did manage to grow out that first multi spore Mazatapec, which I then moved to liquid culture, which I then started 8 rye grain jars with. Every single one contaminated - hence why I went straight to multi spore with the Amazonian, and the red boy....because I was almost out of mushroom stocks
I’ve got some 5th generation plates of Amazonian that is being moved to master grain jars today.
I’m also taking a clone of a HUGE red boy that has poked up through the casing. I’ve got a busy day today.
So I’m now intrigued (must follow that link above to the trusted cultivator): I’m only at 47% harvest efficiency that has been achieved.....I’m hoping with my building experience, and some really good agar on the go, I can start to make dents into my efficiency.
Thank you all, I’ll be back lol

Yeah I’ve seen some of Frank Horrigan’s posts before
But get this, he’s talking about his late casing method. And he is using a different method to me: larger monotub, cased, substrate coir, verm, gypsum, holes in tubs.
Completely different to bodhissatta’ s Unmodified Tek: this does not have holes, uses coir sub only, is not cased - goes straight into fruiting conditions, and is minimal maintenance. Think we’re (you’re) comparing eggs with cheese.
Thanks for the heads up though, might carry on with my side by side casing experiments. What I seem to have noticed to date on the cased grows is at least 3 weeks extra to harvest with no noticeable impact on harvest weight. My red boy tub casing layer is still not even 25% colonised, yet there are side pins growing, and one huge beast that came straight through the casing layer, nd looks to be about 35g at the moment: I’m pulling this one today to try and take clones from it to agar.....just in case my casing layer has killed this monotub!!!
Take care DJ Ed

Cheers DJ Ed. We started Bod's tek on almost the same date. My bags started on 18th of May and I've been harvesting since Monday (dehydrator space limitation). 1050g wet Taman Negara from 3kg dry oats and 2x650g coir split into 2x18l tubs, and 900g AA+ wet with the same amount of spawn and substrate.
I was also amazed with results to effort ratio Especialy with last years BRF cakes failure.
Keep it up Did You had 2nd flush already?

Sick dude, amazing yields.
I’m going for a similar, small scale setup but going to be using Mateah’s humidity chamber tek for brf cakes utilizing 5L tubs and just cracking the lids for fae

I use those same tubs, they are really useful. Infact once i realised you can remove the lid entirely and stack another box on top it was game on. Set and forget.
