If someone wanted to spi on u they could do it thro PC as well, so why would smart phone be different

If you can sure it may help. If you already downloaded it then just use a vpn from now on.

Cell phones record temporary data in a way that can make much of what you do recoverable on them. Although your actual encrypted connection data may be next to impossible to intercept your encryption keys, search history, potential java compromises and many other elements that would be better off obscured will remain... if given enough motivation to recover them.
