AA Sterilizer valve question
#26741004 - 06/13/20 03:06 AM (3 years, 7 months ago) |

On the AA Sterilizers, does the steam exhaust tube that goes down inside screw in thru the top of the lid, with it's bolt above the top of the lid some? And then the stop cock valve screws into the top of it?
Dunno if my question makes sense without a diagram , I'll look for one.
Thanks

No, I couldn't have, because I don't own an AA sterilizer. But I really appreciate the images, thanks.
I have an AA PC that I turned into a hybrid with sterilizer parts. I only added the stopcock valve + red high pressure plug. The reason I asked was because I was just curious if it's possible to add the steam exhaust tube + basket to an AA PC.
Also the replacement stopcock valves look a bit different than the ones like on yours. Some of the AA Sterilizers have them though - here is ta photo of the stopcock on my Hybrid PC/Sterilizer and a screenshot of an AA sterilizer :

I figured the bolt underneath the valve might be the top of the steam exhaust tube but I wasn't sure
A few years ago when I first put the stopcock on my PC I figured on the proper sterilizer lids it must screw in deeper and sit flush with the lid but seeing a photo of how it all goes together it makes sense to me now

I called Wisconsin aluminum foundry and talked to an engineer who wouldn't spit it out. The vent tube is restrictive but if you have the basket it helps get air out. I said well without a basket would you take it off and his reply was you cant modify the unit. But it is restrictive right. Yes but you can't modify the unit...
Yea lol

"Sir, I cannot confirm or deny that information, sir"
I haven't had any real problems on mine since switching the parts out. My pressure gauge is off, the needle always rests at 5 PSI - I have a new one coming, I ordered a sterilizer gauge instead of the PC one on the off chance it pulling a vacuum damaged it, they were the same price
I have also read not using distilled water can mess up the stopcock valve
I am leaning towards it being totally possible to add the steam exhaust tube and basket to an AA PC that's converted with sterilizer parts. I don't know if it would fit in mine though , it's a 21qt and the smaller AA sterilizers only come in 15 + 25qt. I'll have to check the basket measurements

I’d just say fuck the tube and run without a basket in your case.

Yeah it would cost like 60-70$ for the parts anyways Really I was just curious if it was possible

So isn't this fucking fun. I decide to give my AA a good cleaning, and I go to unbolt the stopcock and it snaps right in half. Lovely 😂
From now on I'm only running with distilled water

That sucks man. I personally don’t really clean mine all that much, don’t think I would even take the valve off unless I planned to replace it.

Agreed, don't take things apart for no reason, it only leads to missing and or broken parts.
