Peruvian or Pachanoi etc?  Hybrid?

I've only seen ones I was told were active close up (only cactus I've eaten is dragon fruit lol) and never really kept any cacti ornamentals, I was always more of a rainforest person.

Are there many non-active species that look really similar?

I guess the question really is what are the chances this is a medicinal plant?

I've got zero experience with that, just curious really.

It's on a friend's newly acquired property so no history on it.

See above, its a Cereus; not Trichocereus.

Oh thanks, I was a bit confused (I thought Cereus was short/slang for Trichocereus)
