So are you saying that I am better off dehydrating at 160f rather than the 105f I conservatively run at?

So there's no risk of losing potency to the high temps but the extra 6 hours it takes to dry them is going to cause loss of potency?

Btw drying also loses potency

Drying loses potency?!?  I knew weed loses a ton of potency if you don't dry it right... had no idea mushrooms did!

Weed does not lose potency from not drying right, it might get moldy or be too dry, but no, it would not lose potency. That's why you can dry/cure buds however you want if you're planning to just make hash or oil out of the plant, one way or another it's just the extracted material so it doesn't matter how it's handled after it's mature.

WRONG.  That is really annoying.  But I won't even entertain that, this is about mushrooms.

Correct. The longer the mushrooms are 'wet' the more potency can degrade. Look up posts by mad season. He explains it all science like.

My point is just dehydrating at max temp (160F on typical dehydrator) ASAP after harvesting is the best way to preserve potency and ensure safe storage. I've seen so many people assert that dehydrating at low temp for longer is better for potency. No no no.

Ah okay. Yeah, 100%.

Slightly different topic but what would you guys say about slicing mushrooms top to bottom? On the one hand it cuts your drying time in half so there is less time for decay but on the other hand it creates a huge surface that blues and loses psilocin.

Will psilocin be destroyed no matter what when drying and it is no use trying to protect it? Or to ask it differently is blueing actually bad when drying mushrooms and should it be avoided?

I also put mushrooms in the fridge because I tend to have uneven flushes and what I see there is that the caps turn blue which should be a clear sign of decay even at fridge temps.
