Potency varies by size...

So my friends love taking these Rustywhytes I’ve been playing with for several months now. A couple of them recently told me that when they took 3 g’s of small skinny booms they had an amazing trip but when they ate one single 3g mushroom they didn’t trip as hard as the 3g’s of small skinny deals.. I myself don’t trip anymore I just enjoy seeing them grow so I haven’t tried them. But does anyone have any thoughts about this? I’d love to read other people’s opinions and experiences. Thanks have a great day!!

This is a fairly widely reported phenomena. Some have speculated (and I personally believe they are correct) that the smaller fungi have the full amount of actives once they reach half-size that they are EVER going to have, no matter how large they grow.
Thus, if picked when less than fully mature (most shoot for just as the veil breaks) they are both smaller and more potent per unit mass.

The only advice I can offer, and I have read this in countless places, is that during the initial stages of growth you get maximum psychoactive production. Once the veil between the cap and the stem breaks, nd the cap starts to flatten out, that’s when the mushrooms stops its production of psychoactives and puts all its energy into spore production.
So the rule of thumb I tend to go by, is to harvest before or just after the veil breaks.
The other point to consider is multi-spore grows. Unless the mushrooms were homogenised in some way, the potency from mushroom to mushroom w8thin the same flush, can vary wildly.
And the final point,is, was the mushroom cracker dry? If not, then some of that dried weight, is still actually water.
Cheers DJ Ed
p.s. Yes I have been caught out by potent small mushrooms more than once though....

As has been said, at some point during growth (about when the veil breaks) the myc stops adding actives. So yes the smaller ones have more actives by weight, but not absolutely - i.e., if you let a small one grow bigger you'll get more total actives, but less concentration by weight.
Harvesting them all small will not net you more effect for a given grow, IOW.
